ring description

hi
i'm in my "mining faze" now, so i'm travelling around looking for metalic rings to mine. when i discover a new system and scanning it, it doesnt describe the content of the rings. here is an example:


i can see the size of the ring, an not more.
what am i missing?

Do you have a detailed scanner? Usually that reveals the ring contents for me. Though sometimes, the contents still don't show up.

i tried mining today, never again, micro managing that refinery every 5 seconds almost made kill a kitten

i still havent made my mind yet. i think the main reason i like it so far is the new ship i'm using - my new Python.
