Rings, at least at a distance, appear to be made from flat polygons with zero depth. Since a lot of stations sit in orbits exactly in line with the rings this means you can't see the rings - instead you can see a few dots of an aliased line (if you are lucky).
This is a shame and detracts from the drama of ring systems. I can't think of a nice way using 3D hardware to give it a bit of thickness - some sort of edge faded polygon line though the middle? Or perhaps just varying the position of the station so you get a slight angle on the rings? Anyway - will leave that to you.
