Rinse. Repeat.

Now bare with me...I am only five weeks old, but....

After spending several weeks making my living by killing wanted ships, I began to see a pattern(kill dumb pilots over & over & over, etc.). I was cruising, credits in hand, towards an empty void. What to do next?

After 2.1, fighting became more engaging(yeah, that's the word). So it was more entertaining to slaugther the endless amount of piggybanks that entered your zone(with the help of the security, or wing, no solo... don't kid yourself). Even after the increase in A.I. manovuerbility(I personally refer to it as 'The Omnscient Drone'), the credits were still exploding like super novas.

The real question, the reason I authored this thread, why are we grinding all this        ing money?

I'm not grinding any money. I'm not grinding anything (or just when playing music) Why assuming that everybody is doing this?

making credits is not a grind for me, i do it with much joy.

engineers, thats a grind. and as soon as i get a reward (cargo) from a mission, i cant go back to a HAZRES.

i recommend trying it for yourself, go into a HAZRES with loot in your hold.

wont be long before the entire hazres is hunting you.

Already tried, it goes quicker as the targets come to me without the need to chase them. Watch your surroundings and drag your targets away so you can kill them before an other pest engage you.

I'm not. I'm just playing a cool game and a number in the corner of the screen happens to be increasing.

Don't get me wrong; there was a period between floundering in my Sidewinder and getting my Asp when I *REALLY* wanted the Asp that I'd wanted to have for thirty frikkin' YEARS of my life. I really wanted that. Everything else jut comes along in its own time. :)

I don't grind, and I don't do it for credits. Credits enable me to improve my support base, my ship, allow to take on bigger and badder baddies and so on and so forth.

As in life you either get that there's no point and just enjoy it, or grind yourself to virtual death of heat of universe.

Why it doesn't appear in other games? Because they usually have some story stapled on so people would have something to get attached to.

Fair enough :)
so then i get a choice...

1. go bounty hunting with my cargo, what i find frustrating.

2. sell the cargo i gained as reward from a mission, the money i get from it is not worth the time if you compare effort vs reward.

or 3. go to an engineer 12 jumps from my base for doing 1 upgrade.

all are quite tedious, and again the reward vs time is not good if you ask me.

That's your problem I think, this mindset isn't good for this game :/

One of my favourite things is having some valuable cargo in my hold wherever I go and put it in the face of some pirate who of course never gets it :) I'M UNSTOPPABLE!!!

No the real question is why after writing a reasonable post that was clear and to the point did you suddenly feel the need to swear?

Personally I feel anyone who needs to type a swear word or leave a gap/mask it is being nothing more than childish and trying to draw attention to themselves. Sorry but it had to be said.

As for the eventual topic 'grinding'... You are the one imposing this grind on yourself. If you feel an activity is a grind why do it?

Seems utterly stupid to do a task over and over, again and again only to then suddenly decide it's a grind. It is actually you choosing to do the same thing again and again and again... Then you decide you need to make a post to let every one know you've been doing the same thing over and over and over and over.

Please

Just do something different!
Bran is in a rather intolerant mood this morning.

it has worked so far, and im not new here. ive got over 2200 hours on elite now.

and spend most of my time just bounty hunting, at the moment ive got over 1billion collected in just bountys

Can't drag much in an Anaconda. I'm a very good elite combat pilot and I too cannot go to HAZ RES. Only security ones. Can't switch to a ship without racks already in it either. So Im essentially stuck in my Anaconda (which is top grade with military Armour) until we can either store cargo or prepay engineers with commodities opposed to carrying them or something.

I was issuing a broader statement when I said "we" ... it was not meant to be taken personally. Unless, of course, what I asked applies to you. I wasn't attempting to accuse anybody. Why are there so many sensitive responses here?

If you are not engaged in one of the many grinds(hunting, exploring, trading, merits, rank, engineer), then how do you spend your time?

Have you not been reading the forum? Because every other thread is a whine thread about the grind.

If you are not engaged in one of the many grinds(hunting, exploring, trading, merits, rank, engineer), then how do you spend your time?

You keep using the word "grind". I trade, but I don't grind. What's the difference? I play for fun. When that action isn't fun anymore, I go do something else. Maybe it's exploring, maybe it's combat, maybe it's firing up a different game. "Grind" implies I'm doing some activity I really don't want to do, but do it anyway. THAT is why people are sensitive. You're attaching the word "grind" to general activities like "hunting, exploring, trading, merits, rank, and engineer". Many people don't subscribe to your assumption that doing those activities = grind.

Fair enough. I consider every action in this game a grind, but I'm using the term in a less negative way. Either way, this thread went off topic after the 1st response.

I just want to know why everyone keeps on the grind. Why do we continue to play?
