I predict early 2025 as the next resurgence of Doom(tm) when colonization launches and some players inevitable aren't happy with it.

Alas, until the Far God arrives and cleanses the galaxy of all life plugs are pulled on the servers (or development effort ends, whichever happens first), things will go on. As long as I'm happy with it I'll keep playing.

I can beat you to it, I already know there's zero about Colonisation I'm interested in. Won't be dooming about it though, I already gave up on having expectations years ago. I'll just be checking out what variety of undead crawls out of the grave this time with clinical interest. 😛

Oh, I know I am not likely to be interested in it either, especially not as a solo effort (which would probably just be me giving it a light dabble), but it's likely going to be another thing I can happily exist alongside of like Powerplay 2 without getting affected. More into the Thargoid madness as of the last two years, though, I still have more exploration treks on the to do list. And getting around to Beagle Point even if it's more of an explorers' hallmark than challenge these days.

Let's be honest, no fanboyism or "white knighthood". The elite literally dodged a bullet only because all the new IPs that FDev spent a ton of resources on failed to the level of "almost bankruptcy". Well, at least the Elite has risen from the dead for now, I don't know for how long, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

It can still be a challenge if you do it old school, using only the ships and tech that were available when it was first discovered. Which is something a bunch of players are attempting this week with it being the 10th anniversary of Kamzel's trip across the galaxy that led to Beagle Points discovery.

Pretty much this. The game definitely flatlined for while but seems to be as vibrant as it was back during the Distant Worlds expedition days. (y)

I'd normally agree, but Frontier have a habit to focus on the new content only while neglecting or worse, involuntarily wrecking other parts of the game. If you have a favourite area in the game that's ridden with bugs (or improvable gameplay loops), you'll have to be extremely patient and hopeful they'll ever look at it.
Yes, this is something what I really was missing on these forums 😁 (and silently pointing on some doom youtubers which tone has changed 180 and their audience too)
I'd be interested who these (multiple) "doom" tubers are. I can only think of one, and even he calls out positives when they occur. It's a bit like calling news reporters agents of negativity when all they report on is simply what's happening in the world (appreciate it depends on the media culture by country, but still). After all if Frontier provide good content, it'll be covered accordingly, and vice versa. 🤷‍♂️

2024 is not yet over... just sayin'... 🤓

🤭🤭🤭

True.

There is a possibility that Cocijo will destroy Earth and start a chain-destruction of all inhabited planets, thus eliminating all game content, and FD will say "well that's all, folks" next Thursday or the one after. And shut down the servers.

Because it didn't "looked" to be so, they literally ignored ED almost completely
I had all but given up on them ever fixing the wireframe coriolis bobblehead (was lacking metallic textures since Odyssey launched, so 4 years), but they fixed it with a recent patch, on the sly without mentioning it.

It most likely coincided with that realisation that Elite is still bringing in cash and their renewed focus on selling more micro/macro transactions for it.

How to win internet arguments in three easy steps

1) reduce all criticism or non-positive feedback to "doom"
2) point out that the servers are still up
3) win

Literally unbeatable so long as we never have a balancing or development issue bad enough to actually set fire to Frontiers servers.
