It appears we have a real Planet Discoverer among Commanders in Elite Dangerous: CMDR RAFCIOO seems to be a person named Rafał Herszkowicz who discovered back in 2013 a planet PH2 b (or Kepler-86b) in Kepler-86 (also known as KOI-3663).
In the game, the planet was discovered by CMDR PHOENIXDFIRE, but maybe there's some way to acknowledge actual RL discovery as well?
