Engineers RNG, RNG, RNG

Hi Commanders, are any of you like me, suffering from 'MSF'! (Material Search Fatigue) I have just spent more than 2 days trying to find Proprietary Composites among other rare materials without any luck, evidently the RNG does not want to play for me, I never had a problem in 2.4 and earlier versions, getting materials that I needed was possible, yes it was hard but at least it was doable, USS HGE in Federation, War, High Security but currently nothing! lots of Military Grade Alloys and more USS Degraded Emissions than you could imagine, but HGE's for Proprietary Composites ZILCH! After more than 2 years of constant play, 4 Federal Corvettes, a Python, FGS, Diamondback Explorer and all Grade 5 engineered and over a billion credits, I'm stuck in the new engineers, which is a shame as I love Elite Dangerous, but the 'MSF' has finally got me... Time to hang up my Hotas and say farewell to Frontier while I try to recover from my materials fatigue, time to find a game with little or no RNG, will I return to E.D? I hope so, but I don't know when, if any commanders know of a cure for 'MSF' please tell me, I really don't want to stop playing this amazing game but my 'MSF' is getting in the way of my Enjoyment. HELP!

do something else.

Use the mats trader to get what you need by selling whatever you found instead. Quite simple, really.
With 2 days worth of farming with bad RNG, I bet you have plenty to trade.

Just playing the game, doing what I want instead of "grinding". Every USS I see I check it out. Yesterday, found 2 HGEs in quick succession, didn't even realise it was a Fed system. Picked up a bunch or Proprietary and Core Dynamics composites. You should try not looking too!. Used to be an issue when you had to manage your inventory because you couldn't keep everything but now it doesn't matter

I exchange rate is too harsh imho. It feels like I'm being forced to sign a deal with the Mafia.

When all comes up to grind for mats , them something must be very wrong!!!!!

And what other use do you have for your surplus materials?
Harsh is fine. Remember, you get a known result, without relying on rolling.
How much time didn't people spend farming mats and rolling for very rare stats?
Compare the exchange ratio to that time investment, and you'll see it's a far less time-consuming system.

tried the materila traders and managed to get about 15 but I need lots more to fully engineer, so I now have to swap Bad RNG for Bad Grind. I don't mind some grind or RNG as long as it's doable but this is just CRAZY..

It sounds more like your system choices are off, and you're dealing with the fallout.

War/Civ War isn't a requisite for Prop Comps, it actually lowers your chances by adding other G5s into the mix. Go to a Fed system in None state and you'll remove Military Grade Alloys and Supercapacitors from the loot pool, leaving only Prop Comps and CDC.

System security (AFAIK) has no impact on HGE spawn rate or types of mats spawned, however most agree population increases HGE rates. Make sure your system has at least a billion pop.

You can also farm up Prop Comps from bounty hunting. I was testing the info that G5 mats drop from Condas in 3.0 the other night; didn't get many G5s, but got plenty of Prop Comps. HGEs are still your best bet though, I get at least half a dozen seeds of Prop Comps for every CDC I farm, it's obnoxious how common they are in Fed-None-1B+ systems.

Witch Craft.
This is what's killing me.
Having to take a variable out of a known variable to get an answer (no state as opposed to war).
Where in game does it state this ( i know you're right - not arguing).

I've just been to a Fed system at war looking for Military Alloys. Did I get them? No. Bloody super thingys all the time. Which variable did I get wrong? I don't know. Just in a civil war system as I type.
That's right FD. You've made the best AFK game ever!!!

I just collect everything that isn't nailed down. I think I have the largest collection of bottle caps ( used as money in the Fall Out Series ) and a mountain of wooden cups from Skyrim. Everything goes into the bin lol I stop after every kill in a has res and pick up every speck that floats lol I've gotten a ton of some Bio something or other, I forget the name and I've maxed out exquisite focus crystals three times. I just trade it down for something I need. Same with surface mining. I set a goal and I wont stop until I hit it, no matter how many times I have to make fuel :p Yes I am a little OCD, ok well maybe more than a little. :D

That would be fine, if USS resolved without having to target them.

Currently the "gameplay" is: "Oh, a USS", target, slow down, turn around, scan, "damn, another convoy", open menu, select previous destination, turn around, accelerate, "Oh, a USS" ...

This entire mechanic is intended and designed intentionally to waste player time.

They could easily make finding HGE's a lot easier by "just moving a level" in their settings.

Instead, they lied to us when they stated "Made finding of HGE easier" in the 3.0 patch notes. All while also reducing the data we get from settlements. When this was brought up and questioned. We were told it is working as intended. A week later in a different post they say "It was not intended and we don't want to reduce the mats you get."

At least the Sound Team actually does great work. I'm not disappointed with the looks of planets. But those HGE.... worst game play ever because their drop rate is so awful. RNG == waiting for something else, to decide what you can do. (ps... this whole line of "Do something else then, is the goal you are missing. What we want to do, is what follows finishing the engineering.)
