Quite simply, can we get a semi-official bypass for those of us that don't want the performance of our ship to be random, and instead get a fixed cost/benefit from Engineers? A lot of my fits just need that 10-10% extra power-grid to make everything fit, and I don't need/want the boost to be a random amount. It would be nice to say, give up experimental and secondary effects to have the primary effects come out a certain way, enough that I can rely on it.
The biggest problem that I have heard is that it would be 'overpowered'. Not really, if I can already get that same fit if I get really lucky. The other factor of course is I want say my guild buddies to all be able to say, I have my ship with these mods and equipment, and I know exactly how far the guy can make in one leap. It would really help that gameplay too. More like EVE's Tech 2 and faction modules than Destiny's random everything, reliable nothing setup.
