Roads less taken - Return from the Vacuus.

Well, After approximately 8 months (on and off) of wandering about the Vacuus and out to the edges of the Outer Arm in my trusty Anaconda Mr. Biscuits, I have returned to the Bubble for some 2.2 action. I would love to share deep thoughts about this part of the galaxy, but in truth, the most intriguing part is how unexplored it is compared to the more common stretches of the galaxy. I found Earth Likes more common than I expected and almost no Neutron Stars and not a single black hole comes to mind.

While probably not the most exciting stretch of space to explore, it was not without its challenges. Many interesting features requiring some boosts to reach. Dead ends deep of the edge of the arm that took days to negotiate.

Well, I'm back. Switched to my Cutter. Bought a fighter, hired a pilot and added some cabins. Think I might apply my deep space chops to some tourism.

Fly safe and stuff.

Yeah, I've probably seen less than ten different commanders' tags when I visied the region a couple of weeks ago, with probably half of the systems tagged by some Allitnil guy, wonder who that is. :f For me however it's the most exciting region I visited so far and feels in many ways more remote than Beagle Point. I love the deep black and relatively low star densities on the edges of the galaxy - I find that way more interesting than all those nebulae and the brightness around the core.

Welcome back.

Mm, quite. I've done several (solo) expeditions through the Outer Arm Vacuus, and the near edge is still far less travelled than the far edge. I like it this way though. It's an interesting region to navigate, and a good contrast to many others.

Also, have you seen Vitamin Arrr's South Galaxy Crossin' Map? It's a most excellent route map.

I have seen his maps, love them....makes me laugh every time I look at them. Great resource.

I've been too busy on the common stretches this year, it being my first year in ED. Hopefully next year I'll find somewhere quiet like the Vacuus to go.

Love your ship name by the way.

Thanks, Frawd. My first outing with a fighter in me belly last night, I bit off more than I can chew and lost a fair amount of credits for the lesson....we'll see how long before I roll back to the black. I did hit over 500,000 light years on home stretch from this explore trip...that was exciting.

I'm just venturing in there now, wondering just how far a stock Mk III will get... I'll keep an eye out for your tags.
