The game was always intended to look simple. If I spent the time trying to make it AAA looking, I wouldn't have had time / money to make it huge and expansive. Think of it as a small step in the Minecraft / Dwarf Fortress direction. I reject accusations of carelessness!
I will accept "ugly" though

Seriously though thanks for playing my game!
Haha, I didn't meant it in a bad way, I just meant that it's not a AAA with tons of money it: it's a modest production. Actually the opposite of carelessness, it's only with great care that a good game can exist with low investment.
Since you're here in this little thread, Raptormeat, let me say, good work on the game, but specially on the "story" side of Rodina. It's what made me buy the game after playing the demo: those little data sticks and the awesome feel of living a sci-fi that came from those little side stories - somewhere after reading one of them I felt like Dennis Quaid early on
Enemy Mine. On the "ugly" side of the game, I mean, obviously, textures are a big part of why big games are expensive, but I sincerely hope that the community expands and mods that complement the game on that side can help you offset that problem with texture and graphical mods. BTW, nice work on that, mod support is one of the best ways to make the community get involved in your game.
