Arn't brown dwarves classed as stars not planets? As such there can be systems with a single star...
For random planets not orbiting stars they are not known to be in Elite just yet.

Whether they're classed as stars or planets depends on whom you ask. I chose that particular example main because it's a "well known" soloer. More I'm interested in rogue cases of less than dwarf sized/massed objects.
