Like it! How did you get the Cylon in there?

I must look into the voice attack a bit deeper than I have done.

It is really easy using Voice attack. There are lot's of trigger options for voice commands.
You can attach sound files, start up programs, have text read by a Text to Speech reader.

So I looked online for Cylon audio files until I found the one I used in the video.

I also have a talking clock set up in Voice Attack to tell me my local time.

I'm currently looking online for AI chatter to create a role play scenario where my Amy and other AI are chatting together while I pilot the ship.

You can't go wrong spending $8 for Voice Attack.

Well done sir!

Were all those Ivona recordings? Or, how did you get Amy's voice in there so much? I use Ivona Nicole and your vid was very inspiring.

Thank you very much for showing so many possibilities.

I wonder if you could use other languages for this? I can picture computer increase speed, Si senor, quieres tacos amigo? :D :D

I think that video was genius, well done, but man is that annoying to have on your ship something that talks all the time :p. Sorry that's just me I don't see immersion in having a talkative computer

No they aren't Ivona recordings.
It really doesn't take long to build up your own profile with commands.I wrote all the dialogues.

You pretty much start off with simple ship commands.Like "Landing gear up" attached to the same key you use manually when playing the game.
I found some words weren't triggering as I have a tendancy to mumble. So saying "speed 50" didn't work even though "speed 75" did.So rewriting it to speed fifty worked.
I lost my Asp completely due to "engine 25" being understood as "boost engines".My ship boosted into the landing tower and blew up.The repair bill was greater than the money I had and the insurance loan.I had no other choice but to get the free sidewinder.True story. So now I call it
"Engage Afterburners" and often the word "engine" wasn't picked up hence why I say "speed 100" as in 100%.

Once you fly around and have all the ship commands working then you can play with conversations or attaching sound effects or operating widget speaking clocks that can tell you your local time.I'm also going to to incorperate text to speech novels/books that you could have read to you while you fly around.

Anyway once you choose to make a new command there is a text box that opens.Clicking the right hand side of it opens a bunch of options like, use an audio file,or open up an application,or the main option for dialogue being the 'text to speech' option.
With the text to speech option you just write a command like "Hello Amy".That word use will then trigger the response you have written for her.For example "Hello,Commander, are you well".Don't use full stops as they'll be read out as "dot".
A comma works as a slight delay for the next word being read and a series of ,,,, will increase the length.

There are options to add pauses for example,

Engage Hyperdrive Amy (trigger word)
then you action the keyboard key you use ingame(in game my left shift key operates hyperdrive)you can also increase the length of the keypress.Sometimes 0.1 sec isn't enough time between keypresses.Requesting docking didn't work for me until I increased the key presses to be 0.2 sec's long.

As you know there is a 4 second final countdown before entering Hyperdrive.
So if you want Amy to say something else after the countdown you would just add a pause of say 6 sec's before the next scripted action. That way the countdown audio and Amy aren't speaking over each other.

So the 6 seconds pass and now Amy says, Waah,,, these vibrations are messing with my,my,,,,see sir,my CPU is shaking loose I can't finish what I was about to say

Once your happy with the dialogue responses just accept and then try them out.Play with the pause times until the conversations flow.

Think of a story with many branches of communication.Write them all down as you will no doubt forget them all.
Then just keep adding to it.Like combat chat, mining chat, exploring chat.It is really endless.

I only got Voice Attack yesterday.I'm no expert and operating it to do what was in the video was a piece of cake.
I'm looking forward to seeing other vid's and seeing what idea's I can borrow.

edit: ykza5 yes you have to find a balance. When I'm in trading mode I basically am just giving ship control commands and not having constant conversations. It was an example of what can be done for people that really want to roll play.

Very cool indeed.

I started to train my PC to my voice (if you actually need to for voice attack?) and i was going for an hour. When it couldnt learn the word "next" as i say it i gave up. I speak pretty clear but there was a bunch of words i had to say in a non natural way so i ditched the idea of using voice attack. Might pick it up later again as its too good to pass up on. I used other voice programs for other games before with sweet results.

I had similar issues training my pc.

There have been some very minor glitches with Voice Attack understanding my spoken words/mumbles.But generally it's worked very well.Much better than the Windows 7 voice command program.Anyway there are many other alternative ways of saying things so usually I find something that works well.

Yeah i probably get it going again. I didnt know if i should cry or laugh (was almost going mental) when i had to speak the line "this is easier than typing!" and the computer kept asking me what the hell i was saying. WAHHHHH :D

That's a great vid! Here's a link to my profile, over 1300 commands for the ship and other stuff and maybe 2000+ responses.

Warning! I have included almost every expletive I can think of in there, The ship will respond if you swear. Just a heads up for any kids, or those who are easily offended. The ship itself will never swear at you

It requires A.S.T.R.A for the ships computer and library and I recommend Ivona for the random quotes, scientific info, poems and tons of other stuff

When i ever get this sorted i shall check this out. +Rep your way. :)

RPer Here

Volkira thank you for your response,

I must praise you and curse you at the same time :D
I ended up buying all the dang voice recognition software from Ivona today. I did not know that it was actually downloadable to a computer, as I have had it on my phone for a long time. Thanks for the implant to spend the money.

Thanks very much for yours and everyone else time communicating the how to's enabling this coolness.

I know I will have a lot of fun with it, and I am looking at mixing up with everything that has been linked in this thread. I hope that I can make a video as good as (you'alls?) someday :)

I was 25 when elite hit the commodore 64 and loved it through Frontier Elite, but lost the flavor for it there... Right now I am back in a Cobra and enjoying the beta, and your video made me remember all the things that I wanted the original ELITE to be, including multi-player. Great times ahead commander!

Salute and cya in the stars!
