[OOC]Greetings and Salutations Commanders
I must confess, until Elite Dangerous came along, I never considered myself as a RP character, I guess I never found a game until now that not only suited my game play, but one that offered a richness of stories and lore all rolled into one package..
I came across this thread a while back and even now when I check for any new entries it still leaves me thinking wow, here is a diversity of characters, from humble backgrounds to more privileged upbringing, all having a perspective of life here in Elite Dangerous that is unique and interesting as the character themselves.
Commanders, I have been toying with an idea I have had for a few weeks now, its a little bold and without your participation, it will crash & burn before it can even get off the drawing board.
Allow me to give you a general overview.
A group of Federation/Alliance/Empire rebels, outcasts, fugitives of the various factions, former pirates, smugglers, soldiers, drunks etc have decided to come together in the year 3301 and create an underground movement to promote freedom of expression in the faint hope of educating the citizens of all factions, to the harshness, inequality of oppressive rule from the various factions within the universe. War is coming, no faction or inhabitable system will be spared. From salvaged, stolen, borrowed materials this small group of people decide to build and equip a small ship that circles an abandoned, now forgotten, mining outpost on some remote moon. It's location will remain a secret since their are many spies amongst us. Since Radio Transmissions are easily picked up by the authorities they choose instead to record their broadcasts and have couriers sympathetic to their cause to smuggle these recorded broadcasts across the known universe. For security reasons, the couriers have no idea of the location of these recorded broadcasts.
Their recorded broadcasts are simply called 'The People's Voice'.
These recorded broadcasts are segmented, thereby allowing sub channels to be easily created. One channel would handle travel logs of individuals such as this commanders log, other channels would contain news worthy items of events and experiences and perhaps another channel devoted to character growth and development. This new 'broadcast' will certainly NOT be like Radio Lave for example, which doesn't deal with RP and broadcasts from the outside in, as opposed to being inside the universe in the year 3301. Radio SideWinder while having the feel and sound for operating in the year 3301, is music orientated and again, doesn't handle RP very much.
'The People's Voice' will be situated inside the universe, in the year 3301, it will feature characters from that time period, it will not feature slick or polished jingles, it will instead sound and feel a little rough around the edges (in keeping with the fact that this is a small operation carried out with minimal/old technology by ordinary people trying to evade the authorities) yet it will have it's own and very unique feel about it. It will feature stories from around the universe, it will highlight life, as simple as it is, as it happens under these chaotic times, it will feature stories of wars and conflicts that effect you, perhaps your home planet is effected by conflict or war right now, perhaps your thinking of taking part in one in defense of your home system. Or maybe you have had to relocate to another system with your family/friends recently, what is life like for you right now? What future do you see for yourself?
The People's Voice will also be introducing original Elite & Elite:Frontier stories (Licensed under Creative Commons) for those who were either too young, or not around when these classic games originally came out.
In a nutshell, 'The People's Voice' can be the platform to take your ED characters & stories and give them an opportunity to be heard and seen in a new light.
Long Term Future.
*IF* there is interest from the RP Community and gamers alike for this channel, then The People's Voice will progress to 'live' radio broadcasts via radionomy.com, it doesn't have to compete with any other radio/podcast as it will be unique and one-of-a-kind because you will have made it that way.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas on all of this..

*Update* Work is going well on a new space-themed, full length radio play using only computer voices, sound effects etc, plus a few other new items of interest.
*Update* Had to take a few days off to write a newbies guide for this forum... Also found today a great source of Elite stories that are C.C Licensed and therefore OK to use, time to dust them down and give them a new lease of life!
*Update* Finally got my Radio Play finished, was a bind to finish as I could not stop tweaking it and refining it. it will be included in the first broadcasts. Hope you enjoy it!
*Update* Started work on my second space-themed Radio Play.. Not sure if I can finish it in time for the first broadcast, but will give it a try.
