Roleplaying idea that might be simple to implement (might be good, might not)

Although I roleplay using my imagination I just thought of this game mechanic. I have no idea if it is any good or not.

it seems to me to be relatively easy to implement.

It just uses existing missions.

The key point is just this - there is a path through the existing missions structure you can follow.

The results are:
- you get missions that match your character's role
- a roleplay character you want
- progression with that character
- rewards with that character

How it is achieved:
- you are presented in-game on your right ship's screen with a list of roleplaying characters you can choose (or none).
- could be
(1) Han Solo type smuggler
(2) Evil Pirate
(3) Working for a charity to provide goods
(4) Working for a mining company
(5) Federation fighter
(6) Empire fighter
(7) Independent defender
(8) SRV collector
(9) Base attacker
..whatever..

Then after that a message pops up for you to take a specific existing mission in another station.

if you choose yes then you go there and do it. If done successfully an invisible counter for your character goes up by just one.

Partly random and partly from the counter you are given random rewards occasionally above the actual reward.

The text can tell you what a great job you have done or not.
- The citizens of X rejoice etc your rating with faction X has increased and have presented you with a Imperial hammer module / extra credits gift / materials for class X dirty drive tuning et al
- The citizens of X are disappointed with your failure and your rating with faction X has dropped.
- upon getting a super-high rating in a roleplay you could additionally be rewarded with a paintjob for that character type.
- sometimes someone may come to your aid in a fight (mining company security etc) or drop off goods as a thank you eg you saved my family

So....will it blend??
