Roleplaying on Elite

Hi everyone.

I just want to know if the community in this game roleplays at all.

I guess what i really want to ask is if i get another play communication with me Via Text or Voice, will it be a awkard experience if i talk like a airplane pilot or would it be ok?

What are the guide lines on this game for Rp if Rp at all!

Merry Xmas

RP to your heart's content. Lots of people do it.

Depends on what one means by "roleplaying". I am, for certain, roleplaying a pilot with leanings towards the Alliance and dislike towards violence.

I would not talk like an airline pilot in comms, though, since I don't believe the pilots of ships in 3300 are necessarily comparable to modern day airline pilots. It would sound strange coming from a pirate, or a mercenary. If you are a transport ship pilot, it might work, of course.

I would say the majority of people I've seen were roleplaying. Of course some times some talk about the last update, but roughly the experience is very good ! I have good memories of an encounter with a CMDR; we opened voice coms and flown for like 4h together, exchanging trading tips and fighting together, without talking of our external lives at all! I gues this is also one of the reasons why we get in the game btw... ;)

I had a guy interdict me in Open play and pretty much behaved just like a cop, ordered me to keep still and allow the scan - it was great, even told me to be careful of pirates after letting me go.

Good job he didn't have a cargo scanner installed to spot the 17 Ton of Onion Head I had on board though eh?

If I were to get into character, I'd probably talk like everyone from "Firefly". Now THAT was great use of language...

This Game Fits Role Play Well

I am role playing for sure, though it is difficult at times when you run across someone who does not. Still perfect setting and so far most of the CMDR's I have come across do role play to some extent. :D

ooc : (Once I boot up ED on my computer and sit in my ship, I'm fully immersed. Thus I'm roleplaying my "Commander Faost (the Space Roach)" persona.
Every Comm message I send out in game is from the perspective from CMDR Faost, what would he do/say/think/act/react, so to say.
Coming from D&D and old school RpGs this is how I do it. So far Eklite has beed the playground I always wished for. Props to FD. This game has the potential to be my go to game for the next few years. Again props to FD!
I even use emotes like: *voice is distorted through the Comm's* or *chuckles through the comm* etc.
Anyhow I digress...

CMDR Faost is a Character of mine and I'm constantly playing this Character! )) *

What ever actions I do, I do them in a way that portrays my character and leaves the game more immersive for me and everyone I come into contact with. If you consider that enough Roleplay. When were able to walk around cities I would love to enter a bar and spend hours chatting it up about stories and such.

Being free from the trappings of a fantasy world has really lowered the barrier of entry to RP for a lot of people. Almost everyone I've talked to in-game (what, 6 at the most?) were in my view RP'ng, as they were not talking about anything outside of the E:D universe - although they probably didn't consider it "formal RP". The game is immersive and this is the fuuuuture so it's really working out amazingly thus far.

Hello Pilots
