Hi,
Has such a setting ever been discussed? I've done a quick search but could not find anything on the topic. I am talking about a setting (or a series of settings) which work just like yaw into roll, only the other way a round.
Let me tell you where I'm coming from. First of all, I've played a couple of space games in the past using mouse and keyboard, and naturally, I've grown accustomed to using a certain control setup. I've tried using the default provided by Elite, while actively switching between roll and yaw on the mouse, but also mapped roll keys on the keyboard and found myself forgetting to switch and sticking with my scheme which I am familiar with. The only problem I currently have with this scheme is that with roll on keyboard, I cannot really do precise slow rolls, such as for example when trying to dock and matching rotation with the station. Because it's a digital input, I end up yanking the roll repeatedly.
What I would like is to be able to perform slow continuous rolls when needed, while still being able to have pitch and yaw on the mouse and hard roll on the keyboard, and I think such a setting could do the trick. Maybe it could be added as an extra mode on the existing yaw into roll setting.
Frankly, I'm not 100% convinced that such a setting would solve all my problems, but I'm quite curious to see if it would work better than my current setup.
