Roller Coaster Detail

The coaster details are wonderful. As a credit to how well done they are, I was looking at the fourth picture for a few moments thinking it was real [haha]. I'm blown away by the detail in this game, the rides, terrain and lighting. Everything looks so fluid and believable!

Yeah, I never know what goes on inside their heads. They seem to have been somehow brainwashed into defending a game that is not only a bad coaster game, but a badly made game in general. Anyway, talking about that isn't usually welcomed much here so I'll leave it there :p

I think at this point it is a little unfair to label RCTW as a bad coaster game since all the experience anyone has had so far was a 2 day beta 6 months ago that only had the coaster builder. What they have shown since then doesn't exactly instill confidence but with respect to Atari and Nvizzio any judgement as to the quality of their game should be done when the game is released. After all they may have been spending time developing an in depth management sim which is complex and challenging. There is far more to a theme park game than realism and looks.

And just to think there is another nine months of development still to go. Imagine what we will see between Early Release and final release of the game. Everything so far has been mind blowing with so many details. I just can't wait for the wooden coasters and their variants, which are still work in progress. This is still the tip of the iceberg.

It was not a Beta release though, it was Apha at best. A Beta release generally is i quote 'Beta phase generally begins when the software is feature complete but likely to contain a number of known or unknown bugs'. This has been the norm for decades. Considering the game was due for release 14 days after the Beta, which lacked most things they are apparently adding. It is easy to see where people drew their conclusions from.

I agree, but we have already had that game haven't we?

I agree that labelling it a beta was not the best decision on Atari's part. They would have been better off not labeling it and just saying "Hey have 2 days messing with our new coaster builder let us know your thoughts"

I can very much see where people are drawing their conclusions from and I agree with what people are saying. Based on what we have seen so far it is certainly looking inferior to PC but I personally will be reserving any major judgements until I've played the final version. That goes for both games.

Wooden coasters have always been my favorite coaster type so I'm also very excited to see what they do here. From the early models I've seen they're already looking great, when they're fully textured and completed they're going to be stunning. Quite excited to hear the coasters as well, judging by the quality of work in other areas of the game, we're in for a real aural treat when we finally get to hear all of these rides in action!

The ride I'm most looking forward to seeing is the water rides (log flumes and such) as they've always been a favorite of mine, look forward to seeing how they've done them and then getting my grubby little mitts on them for a good building session [praise] I already know I'm going to be massively impressed [up]

I can't wait to see the RMC type wooden hybrids. I don't think any other game has attempted them yet so it's an exciting prospect. They seem to be the hottest thing right now. Didn't Sam say he wanted to make Twisted Colosus?

I like how this thread went from Coaster Detail to who even knows anymore .-.

Yes! :D

RMC Trains have been clearly shown so we're definitely getting RMCs. RCTW seems to have them too judging by a blurred background at the start of one of their recent videos (but who cares about that, right? :3).

RMCs are the bestest. Never been on one but they just look awesome.

I can't wait to see how they do Winged Coasters like The Swarm or Flug der damonen. If my memory serves me correctly, these haven't been done in a Theme Park Sim before? My thought on these though, would be "Can we edit the middle section of the train?". So on The Swarm for example, it is representing the other worldly force coming to attack earth, but on Gatekeeper for example, is a golden griffin.

Theme Park Studio and No Limits 2.both have B&M wing-riders. The NL 2 one is streets ahead though.
I'm with you though, I can't wait to see them in PC.

Only issue I have with Wing Riders is how incredibly hard they are to make. You really need to keep forces for something like this in check.

I'm sure people will have fun with them though. I'm thinking the g-forces in PC won't be as important as they are in No Limits 2.
They do have a particular flow and feel to them and I'm sure that some of us will obsess about accuracy and shaping. The advantage of PC and these kinds of games is that a broader range of players play them so imaginative goes crazy and rules and conformity goes out the window.
