With the exception of the HUD's, an awful lot of modern ships, especially those equiped with Dynamic Positioning Systems (DPS), have control consoles that look very similar to those. The innovation in these setups featured in the link in the OP really is the presentation of data and integration of panel controls through Heads Up Displays and touch screens. Most of everything else shown in that link is in use in one form or another already.
