CQC Roster for Team Deathmatch / Capture the Flag

Hi everybody,

since I saw some people wishing for organized matches (including me) I made a Google Spreadsheet for this weekend and the next week so that people who are interested could write down when they have time to play something organized.
Anybody with the link can edit, no sign-in required. I made it as easy as possible. :) I have also filled in the first row as an example.

Please be civilized. :)

Sorry but we've tried this before... Not enough players.

Still I would like to try. We had a some spontaneous team Deathmatches a few weeks before. Just sign in, no harm in that. If not enough people respond, well we gave it (another) try. If enough sign we can play. Nothing to lose really. If you sign in we’ll be 3. I hope Zulu will participate too. Rimzey, Hashishin just to shoot a few names. That’s six. Enough to put two teams together. If people see we actually play they’ll be more interested and join.

In my experience the biggest hurdle is people being lazy to sign in. You wouldn’t believe the kind of excuses I heard in mmos people make just to avoid to sign in to a simple raidplanner. The excel sheet is extremely simple to use and open to everybody. I hope this will help.

I saw some of your posts and I understand you are tired and skeptical about the game, give it a bit of hope though and sign in, please. If you are interested at all ofc.

Well I'm going to sign up. In game I'm stuck out in Beagle Point, shooting rocks and waiting in vain hope for a cyborg and his travelling station to arrive, so right now CQC is entertaining me - and in an unusual (for some) move, it's keeping me at it too.

I know a few others who occasionally take part in CQC who would be interested - I'll let them know too.

I've put my times as per IGT (in-game time, a.k.a. GMT a.k.a UTC a.k.a. Zulu TIme ;)) to avoid confusion.

I will have a few hours tomorrow but just need to check when those few hours are. Will update the spreadsheet when I find out

Zulu Romeo:
Good point with the time. I was lazy to do it properly but I’ll just write add UTC to the times provided so that we can see at glance what times are best.

Steenpass:
I’ll look at the voicecomm you have suggested, I heard about it but never really tried it.

All:
Thanks to all who have signed up, it’s starting to look good. :) I think we might even be able to pull off daily evening matches. :) 5 people + 2-3 occasionally on invite so far.

Wonderful. I have shared this link with my ED buddies, I know for a fact that some of them occasionally play CQC, let's see where this takes us.

I actually prefer using Teamspeak for this sort of thing. Discord is fine for complex collaborative efforts, although I haven't used the voice chat facility yet. I might give it a try, though.

Thanks everybody for participating, we had wonderful three hours of Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. Team Deathmatch was so intense. I felt like in an actual fighter battle! Awesome! CTF was a bit awkward at first but then everybody caught up to what we actually have to do and it was fantastic too!

I would like to ask people to not use heat beams in team games as a courtesy to others. At least until Frontier fixes them.

Next opportunity seems to be Sunday at:
12:00 - 13:00 UTC although there will have to be some filling in from random people and a bit of luck.
16:00 - 18:00 UTC
20:00 - 22:00 UTC with a peak at 21:30-22:00 UTC

Having Discord proved to be a huge plus as we could coordinate queues via its chat.

GG to all!!!

I have TS installed. I don't have a server available but I am willing to log in if you can organize it.

We could use in-game voice for audio too. I just can't figure out how to make it work as I want it to. Might need actual effort on my part. o_O

I've managed to get Discord VOIP to work on my system just now, so I'm good for that.

One thing, though: the separate channels for teams are a bit of an issue as no matter which team you are in, your allies are always blue and the enemy always red. Maybe just give them arbitrary names and we can shuffle into one or the other as necessary.

You are right those team names don’t make sense. I didn’t realize that. I am lazy to fix it right now as channels can’t be renamed, they must be deleted, created anew and I would have to post new links. People hang out in general for now it seems. I’ll get to it eventually. :) Thanks for pointing it out.

Let's see how it's going, and we can figure out how to organise the team channels. The in-game comm system could be used, but nobody really knows how to use it. I think the secret lies in looking up the "mute" button in the control config/miscellaneous. By default the voice is muted that's why nobody can hear anything.
