Rotate times for maintenance and updates

Personally I'd love our binmen to jetwash my drive and paint the fence.
If they were the same company who normally do your odd jobs I'd want that too... but as those would be different companies I'd not expect that.
So a few weeks ago Frontier were soliciting feedback on ship&module transfer times.
Transfer times are a thing which has impacted my gameplay perhaps twice in 5 years of playing. And each time I could trigger a transfer and then go about some other task while I wait (for three days for a transfer from Colonia).
Maintenance downtime effects me every week and has the effect of cutting my Elite time by one-seventh every week. And there's nothing I can do in the meantime apart from offer suggestions in the forums...
If Frontier are looking for improvements to improve the player experience, my suggestion would be to make the maintenance downtime a background task which just happens and doesn't impact anybody, no matter what their timezone.
And fix bugs.

So, make shutting down the servers to sort them out a background task? You know that's like wanting to make putting fuel in your car a background task so you never have to go into the service station, it just doesn't work that way. Maintenance is for maintenance of the SERVERS, not the game, and you can't do that while the servers are running.
