Route planner and scoopable stars

Hi! To all long-range explorers out there, doesn't it bother anyone that there's no option to tell the route planner what sort of systems you want to include in your path? In regions that have many non-scoopable stars, it's a realistic scenario to run out of fuel even if you refuel at every chance you get, because the path includes 10-15 or more non-scoopable stars in a row, forcing you to break your route and find a main-sequence star for refueling, then re-plot your journey? Having an option in the route planner to "include only scoopable stars" or even better, to "Include at least 1 scoopable star after X non-scoopables" would be a huge time-saver when going on a long-range expedition. If devs see this, would it be possible to include it in the next patch?

Would be a nice feature to have, alltough it does not really bother me. I normaly stay away from those regions full of cold stars since I don't find them all that interessting anyway.

You can filter your gal map by star type then plot. Select those that are scoopable. You will still get the occasional non-scoopable, but much better than running with filter wide open. On the flip side, you might miss some cool stuff. All in your priorities.

Try moving this to the Suggestions & Feedback.

I'm not sure this isn't intended, part of learning about exploring is remembering KGB FOAM (there are others), and understanding the Doldrums (the layer of unscoopable stars just below the galactic plane).

With these two easy to remember tips & a default fuel tank I've never needed the galmap to do it for me, and that may be intended.

Certainly wouldn't complain if it were added though ;)

You can get an idea of whether the star you are jumping to will be scoopable from it's name too, if it's one of the XXX sector types. That's a little more complicated though so I'd encourage you to search the forums rather that rely on me explaining it correctly ;)

I'd be happy with a route planner that just worked within the features it currently has. And it doesn't.

It fails to find routes when there is a star literally 10ly from the last "valid" route destination. Once you get to that destination though, suddenly that star that was "route not found" is just fine.

It fails to find routes based on your current fuel level.

It fails to find routes that are available but not a direct path.

The little auto-web of available paths fails to find reachable stars based on current fuel levels, and also if the route planner can't find the route

I'd love it if they would fix the features they have first with navigation before adding more things.

But that'd make it too easy, I mean seriously you'd never ever even risk running out if you had 2 minutes of knowledge on how to activate that. There's places to avoid (the 0 height band of unscoopables twd Sag A* for example) but for 95% of the time a route plot will feature a scoopable before you run out.

I like things that simplify things but I think this is a step too far in my personal opinion.

I mean just keep an eye out and know your ship:
Anaconda if you hit 3 unscoopables in a row you need to check as max is 4 full jumps on a standard tank
Asp is if you hit 9 in a row as it's 10 max jumps on a standard tank

All of this can be found easily on Coriolis or just by testing in-game.

Although a good idea, I think it'll make things far too easy.

As it is, you can already filter your Gal Map for Star Types which allows you to check before jumping if the next system is a scoopable.

Also, you'd be putting the Fuel Rats out of business and you don't want to be upsetting them!!

I asked the same thing couple of days ago at the Exploration forum :)

It is not currently possible. But as was already mentioned, you can visually filter the unscoopables. I am doing it and before I start jumping, I go to the Galaxy map and "fly" the whole plotted route in the map mode. This way I can see, if router did not put something like 5x unscoopable in the way.

Also, there is one thing that you should have on your mind. I found it yesterday evening, when there was some problems with servers. If you jump, there is a nasty habit that firstly the fuel is substracted from your tank and after that, you jump. If the game crash like yesterday (unable to connect to matchmaking/transaction server) during jump and you restart game, you will be at the system from you jump, but without the fuel which was substracted before jump. Yesterday, I have several times 2x disconnect in row... :(

Top tip, always keep at least 1 100% FSD boost in stock from Horizons materials (if you have Horizons).

The boosted jump still uses the same fuel so you can get twice as far in a last ditch attempt if you ever get caught short and are in an emergency. Saved me calling the rats on 2 occasions. Which would be a tad embarrassing since I am a rat :p

This one thousand times this!
