Hello everybody,
I would like to point out some deficiencies of the route planner and possible suggestions that would have major impact on exploration enjoyability.
1. There is no possibility to save the calculated route for use in different game session (logging out and back in). It is a known issue that the calculated route after relogging is different than the one we left, often longer. On the way to Colonia I went from 60 jumps to go before logging out, to 79 when I relogged... It took me 30 minutes to work it around.
2. There is no flexibility as far as refueling
3. The route planner does not optimize the route (for example if the ship's max range is 50 ly and we plan to a system 55 ly years away selecting the fast option, the planner will ideally plan a jump of 50 ly and a jump of 5 ly which is the least smart option for the given set of jumps)
Suggestions:
1. Save option. Possibly multiple route saves, possibility to store the routes even for future use, possible "known" routes shared among the game, fixed routes optimized connecting popular systems with a minimum jump range requirement (for example Sol to Colonia).
2. The route planner brakes the route planning an unnecessary jump to a refueling star if it thinks that at that point you need to. The truth is that if you refuel during the FSD cool down time and you have a big enough fuel scoop, you can keep your tank always topped up, making the planned refueling stop unnecessary. It would there fore be nice to have the option to deselect the fuel planning, having the planner considering we actually refuel at every possible fuel star. It would then be nice to have an in game warning when the fuel star we are at is a mandatory refueling star as the following portion of route is planned through several stars not allowing fuel scooping
3. A route optimize option. A mix of fast and economy. As per the example, at a given number of jumps, it is not convenient to have one max range and one very small range jump.
Thank you !
