Route Planner?

Have a fair bit of engineering to do (both personal stuff and ship), is there a route planner available that would allow me to work out the most efficient route for visiting the various engineers?

If you find one, the BRC organisation committee would like to have a word with you...

Seriously? Depends on which ship I want to engineer for what. For anything that ends up with >60 ly single jump range, the time needed to figure out an optimzed route exceeds the time actually needed to flit through the Bubble. In this case, start at Felicity with a maxed out FSD, then do the rest according to capabilities and distance.
And in practice, those trips tend to get apruptly interrupted with a visit to Inara to find the nearest material brokers once I discover I ran out of crystallized hare's feet.

It would be complicated for a route planner as your jump range will in all likelihood be changing at each engineers.
That would be the least problem. Engineers in general are planet based. Which means that half of the galaxy will be obscured - and which half is changing by the minute, as the planet rotates,

Yes, EDO Materials Helper. It allows you to design ships, suits, and weapons, create shopping lists for the mats needed, and shows the shortest route between the various engineers. https://github.com/jixxed/ed-odyssey-materials-helper/releases

Agreed, that's an excellent application.

If you don't have all engineers unlocked, it won't provide an efficient route. It does provide a tracker for unlocking them though. IMO, it's best to unlock all of them first, pinning your favorite blueprint for each as you go. Once they're all unlocked, much of your engineering can be done at any station or carrier. You'll just have to travel for experimentals.

lol - I actually use Down To Earth Astronomy's multi-waypoint-planner for race route planning sometimes.

It's probably perfect for the OP's needs although the thing with truly competitive race routing (where every jump saved is potentially a good 45 seconds off your time) is that you also need to take fuel weight into account since your ship's jump range actually increases as you consume fuel (we'll sometimes even deliberately dump fuel before the start).

That looks perfect for what I wanted. The materials program looks very good but it seems that it can’t combine both types of engineer for one overall route

Use the Spansh Route Plotter for Tourists. https://www.spansh.co.uk/tourist
You can use the EDOMH for this, but the Tourist Plotter is useful for other things.
I use it when I'm doing a bunch of missions with different destinations.
You can also import a list of destinations and it will automagically sort your route for you.
There are several other planners there you might find useful as well...

Fly to all grade 5 engineers and blueprint your desired plans. You can get a hefty chunk of what you'll need for most ships and can then engineer from the luxury of your station dock.

The only thing you'll consistently need to fly to an engineer for is experimental effects, but they can be applied by any grade of engineer for the module type.
