Route plotting near the core does terrible things to my system...

When people complained that using the galaxy map near the core is bad, I assumed it was a matter of rendering all those little dots and keeping things smooth.

Well, that's not an issue. At least not for me. I'm slowly making my way towards Sag A and I've noticed that I, simply put, cannot plot a route. I tried 400Ly only to have my framerate drop to abysmal levels and the route planner get stuck at 96%...

Anyone else experience this? Any solution / workaround?

Use the filter, it helped when i was at the core befor powerplay. But the data filter are not working correct ( since many weeks
-_-... i´m still not back -.-...) so i don´t know if it´s the solution.

How does the filter help with route plotting?

The filter removes dots on the screen, yes, and makes the galaxy map smoother... But my problem isn't with the general smoothness of the galaxy map. It's with the route calculation method, which causes terrible framerate drops and basically hangs ~96%...

There's a thread about somewhere where someone did an ok analysis on this. TLDR was there might be magic numbers in that if you try to plot a route length that matches this number, it'd do so relatively quickly. Need to see if I can find it.

i plotted routes of only 75-100LYs when near the core, about 3-4 jumps, it calculated in about 15-20 seconds....not good but it kept me moving

Been an issue since the route planner was introduced, nothing new to see here.

(Now if frontier would fix this already!)
