Route to Sagittarius A - Problems

I decided to travel to Sag A. My method is not very scientific, I just went into the Galaxy Map, focussed on Sag A and plotted towards it in nearly 1000ly stages.

That worked for 20649ly. I have now reached SEAMOO EK-E C25-1, but can find no more stars to plot towards Sag A.

Can anyone advise me on how to make further progress towards my goal, please?

Can you please clarify what you mean by "I can find no more stars to make further progress"? The core has plenty of systems, too dense towards Sag A*. Where are you? Are you having trouble plotting?

Yep, you've somehow managed to go "up" a lot and are now nearly 2,600 LY "above" where Sag A* lies. Assuming you've got the (default) option of the grid showing in the galmap you will see that the second number is 2,550. Sag A* is at -21 so you need to go "down" and in doing so you will find that the number of stars greatly increases!

Thanks to all for the replies - most helpful.
I previously had no concept of up and down on the galaxy map - but thanks to the comments posted here- the light has come on!!

Also I always wondered how people got the grid to show on the map.Ticked "Show Grid" and it appeared as if by magic. Duh!!

Thanks again to everyone.

I'm glad you've sorted your problem out, I wouldn't worry about your method though as that's exactly how I do it and it's served very well.

Now you've figured up and down you can pump a bit of depth into your course as you drive it forward and get some nice straight lines to your objectives.

+1

Edit - You probably already know this but I think the main benefit of that method of route plotting is that you can spot non-sequence bodies en-route provided you have them selected. Normally I only select M class stars and non-sequence (for clarity).

Exploration can be learning curve-My first trip to Sag A* I self destructed my ship because I had no clue about 'up' and 'down' and got stuck with no plottable routes.

The second time I got to Sag A* and went back via the spiral arm.Got to within 15k of home and got stuck again!

The only reason I survived that trip is I was so frustrated I mashed my keyboard and the galaxy map moved downward! [big grin]
