Route Unavailable - what gives?

Sure I'm being dense, but (trying to) head home from a neutron farming trip to SOL (shout out to TRADAM, you rock buddy!) so not a total explorer noob. Every single jump I plot in galaxy map says "Route Unavailable". What gives?

Nothing's malfunctioned that I'm aware of, have a full fuel tank, I can't plot a route 50ly let alone the 1,000ly that I need (x15) to get back to the bubble. Confused. Have an asp with a ~35ly range. Any advice gratefully received. Strongly suspect the error is mine, just no idea what it is...

TIA,
eyleyro.

Are you sure the next system you are plotting is within range of your Asp?? As in you are here . next closest system to jump to is 35lyr or under? Based on the both screenshots the system you are plotting to exceeds your jump range. See how your fuel line is totally blue? that usually means a system that is to far away as the initial jump.

Thanks for the speedy reply Arjin. Blonde question time though... I got *here*, why can't I get *back*? It might be a circuitous route back, but if I'm not capable of getting back where I started, then how did I get here in the first place...? Literally every single route says "route unavailable", I don't understand why I can't - at the very least - retrace steps (and yes, refuelling to 100% at every star)...

Use FSD BOOST?
Doesn't the stars always rotate and so you'll get different routes on offer as time goes by?

nope, no cargo racks and no cargo on-board (not sure if the game - or me - is having a brain fart)

edit: no idea what FSD boost is, not used it to get here, wouldn't expect to need it to get back, but thx)

It looks to me like you clicked the "target this system" button (the little arrow thing) rather than the "plot route" button. It wants to use all of your fuel for one 56 Ly jump, there are not lines for your route on the gal map and I've done this a couple times when I was apparently a little loopy, so....yeah, try deselecting that system and plotting a course to it with the "plot route" button.

Better put the Fuel Rats on your speed dial. or......

Burn off some fuel ( 1/4 tank at most ) then try the econo plotting.

Interesting problem. Are you in a system that you can refuel at? And is the system you want to get to one too? If so then burn off fuel like Gully_Foyle says until your weight reduces to a point where your drive can get you there. The most likely reason you could get here but can't get out is because you are now heavier than when you made your jump in. This can trap even the experienced explorers - it's that last decimal point that gets ya!

You mean single plot- that's the only way you can get the system to use current weight. Eco on >1 will revert to assuming full tank weight.

OP- The reason the target is unreachable is that the middle co-ordinate is so high. At that "altitude" there is very little density, so to get somewhere 50 Lys straight line you need to "go around" 1000 Lys which the computer can't handle. Take that middle co-ordinate to something nearer +/-500 and you should start seeing loads of options.

Big thanks to all who responded, had a bit of a panic last night I think, and some of the concepts above take some understanding sober, let alone drunk. I think the answer was indeed the middle coordinate, I went up/down about 1,000 and found the density much higher, am now happily plotting ~1,000ly chunks back to the bubble to cash in a couple of weeks of data. Appreciate all your advice, every day I learn something new in this game :)

I have a similar problem and need help:

I also cannot plot a Route to any star except about 10 system (which have lite blue line joining them).
Route cannot be created with all the other stars even if the star is only 3ly away.

I made a small video to help you understand the situation.

Note that the distance between stars can be as low as 3ly apart and still will not work.

Update:
Hi Guys, I finally solved my problem: I simply destroy my old Ship and start over from a new One (to a new location). that solved the problem. i can presume that some how, I got stuck in a Area that my ship were not able to make those longer Jumps.
So my jump needed to get out of their were probably longer than 6ly.

You might have just not been able to go in the direction you wanted to go. If you picked the "most economical" setting and kept plotting routes in different directions, you should have been able to find a way back out of the hole you were in.
