Newcomer / Intro "Route unavailable"

Why does this happen? I found a trade route that i like. It wont bring quick credits but its at least steady, Well i die to a pirate, lost a 5 cobalt and a 30k bounty >< but when i Come back to do some trading, it says "route unavailable" why?

I do, The only thing i upgraded was the cargo hold, and when i rebought the ship, i got the cargo hold too, so i know thats not it.

And to be honest the most credits i have had on me were 2.5k, not really enough to upgrade much of anything. (i am only 8 hours into the game, and died twice ><

well that did it, yes i guess my jump range was just too short,

I assumed it was measured in loads and not in tons, becuase 6 tons of leather would take a LOT more space than 6 tons of cobalt.

hey Part 2, smart ways to make credits, Apaerenly Sun takush is rediculously pirate heavy, Got killed for th 2nd time in a row, while in that system.

We don't know yet how they handle volume vs weight in the Elite Dangerous Galaxy... I am sure you could imagine some handwavium that explains it away though ;)

Everything comes in standard containers, and you are limited to putting 1 ton in each. Yes, that means empty space in your Gold container, but it allows standardised cargo manipulation and mass distribution. (Thats my story, and I'm sticking to it)

Hey, another thing you can do if you want to stick to trading is focus on missions - do the missions that have you "haul x cargo to x station in x system" - Go to your galaxy map, find the system, click and open the system map for it, find the station - look and see what kind of economy that station has (from within the system map still, all info on the station will appear on the left hand side of the screen under the info tab when you hover your mouse over it) - You can also see what its exports and imports are - basically what I am saying is pickup those missions for guarenteed credits, and then haul goods to those stations (if the economies allow for a profit) - youll get money for the mission and whatever you haul

You can also get lucky and get the same type of "take this to this station" mission, but it could be that it doesnt take any cargo space - It would say so on the bottom of the mission description - Anyways - do whatever YOU want to do...thats whats so great about this game :D

hah i guess thats as good an exspanation as any, though it does come close to "handwavium" hahah.

Im starting to think going corrior is probably the better way to start off, after 8 hours of trying to trade, and trial and error, trying to trade on 1000 credits is very hard.. most of what you can afford seems very common in the starting systems.

i thought i had found a good route, as it took minerals to sun takush, who seems to always need metals and minerals, and then the machine equipment made in sun takush to the mining outpost i had gotten the metals from, and a few runs would garentee a half good start off a few thousand credits, and start making trades to wider markets, but sun takush seems pirate heavy... getting started in this game seems hard. i knew the learning curve would be high but i didn't think just getting started would be a learning cliff side

I used to do trading, but only with Thrudd's trading tool open in another tab. Using just the in game tools, trading was more guesswork and often got me little to no profit when I was expecting much more.

If you want guaranteed profit, stick to courier and haulage missions.

Good trading is about finding opportunities. While i agree that tools like thrudds can be a great way to do that, it's also so easy that lots of people do it. Meaning that the really good routes that it has data about usually are not really good for long. There *are* better routes out there that thrudds does not know, but it takes effort to find them. And you better don't tell too many people about them, cause that will make them not good in a short time.
