RP ships

Remote piloted aircraft allready exist in the real why not have a an RP space ship this how is could work take the cockpit out of a starship put in a larger ship say a lakon or anaconda link it to the comm system on the mother ship put a remote controll system where the cockpit used to be in the RP ship stick a pilot with a VR head set in doner **** pit and there you go an a RP escort ship many possibilities with idea eg asking PC pilots to use RP to escort you without risking there ship you could get a % of the cargo profit at the end of the run

Caribou: Will there be long range scanners, or some kind of small robot scanner that can hyperspace to a distant system and return some basic info on it?
One of the aspects of exploration we are working towards does indeed have hyperspace-capable “probes” that gather and transmit useful information back to the ship.

not quite what you want but probably there will be remote thingies to control ;)

Isn't this what we'll be doing anyway? Sitting safely at home remote-controlling a spaceship :)

Now, if we have that ship remote-controlling another ship, remote-controlling another ship...... whoaaa

Seriously, I think they're going for a very much 'you the pilot actually flying your ship' type of experience. I don't think there'll be any remote control fleets.
You can of course hire NPC (or player) wingmen to pretty much do the same job though.

I think there's a thread elsewhere with a similar idea... I think most people (me included) would rather this didn't happen...

(Can't be bothered to look for it at the moment... small matter of the World Cup Final to be resolved :) )

This is the third time I've seen this come up this week.

It's already in the background fiction that drone countermeasures are such that they've been abandoned.
