Hardware & Technical Rudder Pedals control schemes

So I've recently got hold of a set of the MFG Crosswind rudder pedals. Wow, what an amazing piece of kit. Unbelievable build quality and finish. A little pricy but you get what you pay for. Love this kit, amazing for ED and any other flight sims :D

So am 3-4 hours into using them in ED. Am finding it difficult to settle on a preferred control scheme! The scheme I thought I would use is not quite turning out how I expected. Plan was to use the Yaw Axis for Lateral Thrust and then combine the Left Brake and Right Brake into one axis to use as the Vertical Thrust axis.

This works fairly well, but my brain seems to be hardwired through years of driving cars and using flightsims to not work intuitively enough in the heat of battle.

I tried as an alternative to use Yaw Axis for Vertical Thrust and a combined Brake axis for Lateral. This works a little better.

I did momentarily dabble with using Yaw for Roll axis but this totally fries my brain (refer to cars/flightsims comment again!) and just does not feel right.

Will post back in a week or so with my preferences with more use. What schemes to any of you guys use with rudder pedals?

Gratulations for the new, shiny gear! Can confirm they're terrific. :)

But I'm also still a bit useless with them, yet. They pedals are used for yaw as in a plane. I'm struggling to reach the same precision as with mouse used for yaw and pitch however, as that is my preferred layout and makes for good direct aiming. Having to coordinate those two axes between hand and legs is rather unfamiliar. If nothing else works, I may try the roll on the pedals and put yaw/pitch on the stick.

The "toe"brakes used for lateral thrust, but are effectively ignored, due to the CH producs Throttle having a mini stick for vertical and lateral thrust. Now that I come to think of it, using the toebrakes as "throttle forward/backeward" buttons for a landing approach might work well. Throttling down before the pad and only make temporary adjustments for alignment forwards or backwards.
