Running a Business from a Station for Credits!

As somewhat of an artist/designer IRL, I would love to design ship skins for others. Then I got to thinking how cool it would be if I could pick a station somewhere and run a ship livery business from there for some extra in-game cash!

This could extend to other forms of businesses somehow.. maybe some kind of "crafting" system where a player can get really good at being a ship mechanic and run a business from there that upgrades ships further or more uniquely than what can be done by simply going to outfitting.

Or maybe once we can land on surfaces we can run agriculture businesses that supply our own rare foods.

Then we could build our own stations.. :cool:

Would I like to see this? Yes, technically, but...

This game has another focus, really. I think your suggestion is great, but it might just not be for this game. The existing features already lack a lot of depth and needs more work, pretty much all the stations look the same... I don't think that FD would implement these kinds of things now, if at any time at all.

As for what business I would run, I think I would try to contact someone already running a business and help them shuttle goods for a part of the profits.
 
It may be way down the line, but I don't see why there can't be more than one way to play the game. Especially if we are building our own stories. It seems this game has attracted many different style of game-players, and many of them like depth. FD has done great so far, and look forward to what ever depth is to come, because there will need to be some in order to hold our attention and to get away from the typical piloting grind every now and then.
 
Nice, idea - I like it. APB:Reloaded has far and away the best in-game design aspects of any game ever. Often there you get people asking others things like "Can you design a dragon for me?". And it wouldn't be just that, I'm sure others may like to create books to bounce off the Galnet news, or weekly magazines with subscriptions, etc.

The general idea essentially boils down to crafting & selling. This is exactly what you've got going on inside a space station. I'm imagining loads of bars with people making drinks from various ingredients, markets selling exotic animals, clothing, jewellery, ship ornaments, weapons, luxury items, paintings, that sort of thing. Perhaps I even have a home on one of these stations and I want to fill it with collectable items. All of these various items would require visiting planets and catching animals, or finding new and wonderful artefacts. Perhaps even hunting down legendary people who can train you in the arts.

The scope of this game is just gargantuan.
