Hardware & Technical Running E:D on a GTX 680 at 2560x1080 or 2560x1440

I'm considering upgrading from my current 23" 1080 monitor to either a 29" Ultrawide or a 27" 1440p monitor. But, I want to make sure my current graphics card is up to the task of running E:D at these higher resolutions, as I don't have the money to upgrade both at the moment. Has anyone here had any experience running E:D at these higher than 1080 resolutions on a GTX 680?

If this is the wrong section of the forum, sorry. I've not posted here much.

I've not personally used the 680 but I'd say with Horizons its most likely not viable at those resolutions. But if you're sticking to 1.5 then you'll be fine.

I'm on a 970 that's pretty similar in performance to a 680 (according to GPU boss anyway) and those resolutions result in sub 60fps@ultra settings for me on planets surfaces.

If I remember correctly the 680 has about 55% the fill rate of my 970 so the effect of increasing resolution would be even more pronounced.

You may be able to do it if you don't mind sacrificing high/ultra settings or can stomach running at 30fps.

You may actually be able to try out those resolutions before you purchase a new monitor by playing around with custom resolutions and using DSR to scale them down to your current monitor.
