Running ED on SSD

I'm currently running everything on my PC off a 500GB HDD and thinking of replacing it with a new SSD. Questions are......

Will I notice any significant differences in ED load times off a SSD? Is it really worth having two drives, one for OS and one for games? Will I have to back up my ED save before reinstalling on another drive or is that all kept online?

Thanks!

Cool, thanks! Thinking a 512GB will suffice unless it's a good idea to do separate drives for OS and games.

My personal experience running ED on an HDD, SSD, and from a ramdrive, is that it made a difference starting the game up, but after that there was no noticable difference. Possibly there was less stuttering approaching planets in SC with the ramdrive but not 100% sure of that.

If you running off a single 500gb than a reasonable update would be simply an evo 850 500gb and simply running everything from that SSD. Keep the 500gb hdd and copy your music, downloads, movies, etc onto that, that is the only part of storage that is not worth to have on an ssd.

For the case of ED: As most stuff is generate on the fly procedurally the loading times do not decrease much by a SSD, what does decrease is the time for route calculation by a whole magnitude. Instead waiting minutes until a 100 ly route can be calculated it done in seconds.

An SDD will help speed up the system over all a lot and ED a little.

The SSD will benefit your frame dips due to the procedurally generated planets. I put mine back on a mechanical HDD and I noticed more 'stutters'.

When I'm back on dry land, I'll do some stutter tests in some systems.
