I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but it just feels like a small detail that's totally missing-- Navigational running lights, and strobes, such as those on aircraft and boats. Red on the left wing, green on the right, white on the tail, and top/bottom strobes (they could be slow fade, a lot less annoying than an actual sharp flash). As long as they can be turned on and off by the pilot, this would be a great immersion feature.
