Mercenary edition pre orderer here. I've been tinkering with the tutorial missions on my lenovo Z500 for the last 2 days. Loving it so far. Caved in and ordered a T flight Hotas withing 30 minutes lol. Anyway, for a bit of fun I thought I'd try out ED on my Alienware M11x R1. It's only an i3 1.7 GHz 11 inch laptop with 8GB ram and 1GB nvidia card but I thought I'd have a go. I set all the graphics to their minimum apart from the draw distance slider which I just moved back about 20%. I then set the screen res to 1024 x 768. This isn't as bad as you'd think as the laptop screen is so small that it still looks quite sharp.
The end result is the game runs pretty well with no stuttering. FPS in the asteroid field tutorials is about 18-26 and in the open space tutorials about 30-45 so all in all pretty playable if slightltly too low in the asteroids. It must have been okay anyway as I foun d myself playing through to the final tutorial again and as usual getting trashed by the cobra. I had as much fun as I do on my Z500 albeit at lower fram rate and with a lot less detail. The game still looks great though.
This little Alienware laptop never ceases to amaze me. I was gobsmacked when I first ran Skyrim but ED is a real bonus
