Just jumped into a system and received notice "main tanks empty", Np il head for the nearest base in system. No ports but there is a base on a planet, I get almost down, through the glide to emerge with no power! I have zero fuel so no life support and im falling to the planet surface! Is this a new feature? How do you get saved by the fuel rats if you have no power no life support?
Oh dear. I suspect you will splat before the rats can save you. Also, you can see which planetary ports you can land at. If you're low on fuel you should just call the rats before you're plummeting.
In case you somehow survive, power is based on fuel so as long as the rats can get to you it's OK. Log out and contact the rats, they love a challenge, they'll tell you what to do.

I assume you logged out because if not you'd be dead by now. Start the game without Horizons, this should put you back in orbit. A bit of a cheat if you ask me, but to your credit the fuel gauge is not exactly precise and your course of action was correct. Then you can contact Fuel Rats to help you in orbit.
Change to vanilla ED before you hit the ground and you will be in orbit above the planet...
