Newcomer / Intro Running out of gas... is there roadside assistance?

So I'm zooming around, gathering astrometrical data here and there, trading in the odd case of beer or three along the way, when I get a nice chunk of data that is actually worth some money (on a newbie scale), so I gotta get out of where I got that to be able to sell it...



... ending up in a system with no planets or stations, and with empty tank.


How do I make sure that doesn't happen again?

Buy a fuel scoop so you can refuel from certain stars (only stars that can be scooped are: A, B, F, G, K, M, O class; the way I remember it is: KGB FOAM). Then, when starting to run low-ish, keep an eye on nearby systems in the Galaxy Map and make sure you can reach a sector with one of those classes of stars.

Also helps to keep your weight low (and obviously upgrade your fuel tank if you can, and buy the best FSD you can find). The next update will include the ability to have multiple tanks which helps too.

The upcoming 1.3 update will have fuel transfer drones so another player can bring you fuel - doesn't help if you don't have friends, however.
