So I can kill the elite anacondas in the assassination missions now and i'm making good money, if i grind away at this for a few weeks i'll be into the imperial clipper i wanted, but I'm left wondering what exactly is the point?

these missions seem to be the pinnacle of credit making besides the rare trading i've heard about, so I get into a bigger ship and i'll complete them a little bit quicker, then what?

Combat zones! Make use of these skills and head to a war zone.

Give yourself a cause, go and oppress slaves, help them, make a name for yourself as the demon bounty hunter turned soldier, have a go at a capital ship.

Hire yourself out as protection for PC miners at extraction sites, offer the same service to players running rares in an unshielded type 6.

Head to a starter system and help new players find their combat feet at nav beacons, hunt players that are (or were) killing newbies in the same systems.

Loads to do if you put your mind to it :)

Interesting thing is alot of what you suggest is co-op/multiplayer orientated. And this really isn't supported very well IMHO.

Funnily enough I though exactly the same thing until I swung by LHS 3447 a few days after release, had lots of player interactions, helping new players with things like docking, light combat etc.

One player I met outside dalton gateway wanted to try combat so I took him to the nav beacon so he could get his pew pews in, explained the wanted system, advised him what ships to go for, helped him drop shields on Cobras so he could get some credits in, and kept aggressive npcs off him so he could take down their faction buddies, as well as drawing the fire of larger ships up to a federal drop ship so he could get a sense of what it was like to at least shoot at a target much bigger than him.

We stayed in the same instance every single time, no hiccups at all, it was a good 3 hours :)

Just pick a star 17000LY away and go. ;)

Issue is, if it, and the hundreds of others, are basically the same as the first few dozen you see! And then when you arrive 17000LY away, in the middle of no where, you're then interedicted by an NPC adding even more to the feeling of realism.

In short, unless there is the risk of truly unique special things (however rare) people will soon realise why bother going 17000LY when I may as well just go 17.

Cool!

I have 3-4 friends all playing ED now. First issue is we are hundreds of LY apart. Next is what do if/when we meet up? Seriously...

I was thinking i might look into providing content for others by hunting them down and killing them, or conversely being killed by them or escaped from, I know i get a rush from pvp and I think i'd like to help others experience that rush.

Please kill combat capable players, a player in an unshielded hauler running 9 tons of bio waste isn't really much of a target/ much competition:)

Unless of course piracy is your thing, in which case have at it, and I look forward to seeing you in the future when I come for your bounty :)

if i see someone in an unshielded hauler carrying bio waste I will liberate them from their self imposed dullness.

Geez the bounty on killing people isn't very high, i think being sworn at hurt more than the 4k that got put on my head, gunna let it build up so when someone cashes me in it will be worth while.
