RX Vega 56 vs GTX 2060

Hello, serious question, after a recent upgrade from my aging FX-8350 system to a more recent Ryzen 5 2600, the GTX 970 which has served me well ofr nearly 5 years is unfrtunaterly in serious need of replacement. Was holding on for deals on the RTX 2060, but prices on Vega 56 cards ATM are very tempting (around 230 in the UK). So I just do the sensible thing and hold on or just go for it?

Please be sensible in replies as a bit tipsy at the moment and don't really want to suffer from buyers regret this time tomorrow!!

I would wait. Both AMD and Nvidia are both releasing new hardware next week. July 7th for the AMD Navi cards and I think Nvidia is a couple days before. They have the "super" series on the way. The rumor right now is the RTX 2060 will go from 6gb to 8gb. Guess we'll find out next week. If you're not interested in the new stuff then a price drop is possible for the previous gear.

I've got both and got rid of 2060. Can't use RTX on a 1440p monitor, anyway. I'm happy with Vega56, now.
Though like Mxpower said, right now is a good time to wait. AMD's Navi and nVidia's Super whatevers are coming soon. It will be a bit faster if the specs are to be believed and even if you're not planning on bying them, I suspect current generation of cards will drop in price. So if you are willing to wait a month or so, I'd wait.

I have the Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro+ which is definitely worth a look if prices drop after the Navi release. Currently £350 at overclockers.

Yeah rumour has it, 2060 discontinued, 2060 super will be replacing it.
2060 super basically has current 2070 chip
