Ryse: son of rome PC

Well finally on PC I got this game and I have to say it is beautiful. Graphically the game is marvelous (high end computer required).

*Rant Alert*

I totally disagree with many reviewers of this game, how can you say this game is a bad game? Certainly not GOTY material but saying that this game is bad because combat is repetitive and then praising Shadow of Mordor is just been a hypocrite. The basic mechanics are the same, hit, hit, dodge, hit, hit, counter, hit, hit, QTE, same goes for many games (AC, Batman).
What do they expect? A roman soldier with acrobatic skills? Weird magic skills? (this is no fantasy game) bow? dagger? not roman style of combat.
For me combat is fine, definitely not perfect but is good for what most games offer these days.

*Rant off*

This a good game to get if you are a fan of roman times, and if you are a fan of Spartacus Blood and Sand TV show you are going to love the executions (I'm positive those were modeled after the show).
I did not play or see personally the xbox one version so can't compare, I was really wanting this game to come on PC and now I'm so happy about it :)

I have to agree ... i love it. I was hooked to the story. Sad that it's so short. And the ending ... well i don't want to spoil anything so i will just say it definitly comes to a conclusion and doesn't leave with cliffhangers but i wish it would not end THAT way. But all in all i really like it. I wish i could play a Ryse II :/.

I kind of enjoyed Ryse when I first got it on the XB1, but then I hit the "console gameplay wall" - didn't get very far with it.

Played Destiny on the PS4 - I very much enjoyed the multiplayer, but hit the "console gameplay wall" - and didn't get very far with it.

Currently enjoying Shadow of Mordor on the PS4 - but I've hit the "console gameplay wall" on that too - don't think I'll get very much further with it.

These games feel very similar, and remind me very much of playing a re-skinned Space Marine. I enjoyed that on the PC, hit the "console gameplay wall", didn't get very far with it.

There's just something about this style of game that doesn't click with me - plenty of other people really enjoy them though.

What do you mean by console gameplay wall?

I do understand what you are saying. This console games are mostly hand holding. Everything has a shinny icon pointing you in the right direction and sometimes get to a point when the game is playing by itself.

But ehh, those are games nowdays, made for kids because its what makes them money. Lately I play for good looks and interesting story (kinda like an interactive movie which many have become). Ryse has the best looks Ive yet seen on a game, would even called best graphics ever on a game, someone correct me if Im wrong

It's hard to describe - but I find that in games where you have to press buttons in certain sequences, or follow a set timed procedure to perform a pre-defined maneuver (that ignores what else is going on in the game, and always has the same result if successful) - it just feels "consoley" to me.

There's nothing wrong with it - I just find I lose interest in it very quickly.

I get you and dont like quick time events either but sadly they are all over the place. In fact Elite is the only game that Im playing with certain amount of action that doesnt have QTE.

Ryse? Isn't that the game whose developers consider their customers to dumb to even press buttons on command like a trained monkey (AKA Quick Time Events which even completes if you completey fail at them)?

You mean crytek? I dont remember crysis having qte at least not the first one, and qte are choice you dont have to use them although I do some times, watching executions in spartacus style is nice

I Have Ordered This Through Steam as Well.

And have started playing it since it self installed on the date of it's release.

It's got some great graphics visuals, the archictechture and characters.

I thought he combat mechanics were bit dull and slow compared to what I found playing Middle-Earth - Shadow of Mordor, but ti does pick up a more after a while, but despite he severed limbs, I didn't see any flying decaps.

Why are most of the barbarians bald?

I stopped my first game after I found I could never successfully deflect the attacks from the characters lead's in game father for third time and just left it there until I continue sometime soon.

Well Im one of the ones that think this is a good game, but to be honest is mostly a benchmark. Is too short with the campaing, the enemies are pretty much generic (I think there are just 4 kinds of enemies). I played it, finished it, enjoyed the pretty graphics and thats it. Actually what I do on most games nowdays. Mordor is just the same thing, wait till you get to the end of Shadow of Mordor you'll see dull game.mechanics

Oh Don't Get Me Wrong....

I am loving this game almost as much as ME - SOM and Alien Isolation, but a little perturbed at why he can't even jump (I guess to stop him from suiciding falling!) and can only climb over obstacles.

At least, that's step up from what the female lead can do in Alien Isolation, yet it's forgiven being such anther visually fantastic game.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Celtic stuff and wish they may make another game like this one with some famous Celtic warrior fighting Roman and Vikings as the lead character. Just like Slaine

Try to jump with a shield and armor like that. Not even Leonidas the scotish spartan from 300 could do it xD

Bought it for the Xbox one due to the kinect features which I enjoyed, a literal voice attack ;)

It was a beautiful game to play, I was a bit bummed about it being only short with not much replay value for me (hence it's cheapish price I guess, £35 launch title on the xbox one). But what you got to realise about this game, is that it was originally intended to be an exclusive game for the Xbox 360 to promote its kinect features. But it developed into something more :D

I just hope we see a sequel to this game, I would buy it in a heart beat, and more than likely it will be much richer then the first.

Not likely this game was not very well received aparently

The campaign was brilliant, what a lot of people were peeved about was the online aspect to the game. It was fun for a couple of weeks, but just became plain repetitive.

Edit: Actually not even a couple of weeks, more so a week to be honest.

I Just Had Another Go!

It's simply impossible to deflect three attacks from the Marius's.

I only did it once that time and I think I was able to get hit him seven times and still not registering as successful deflection.

It's got me stumped.
