Saddle up, and lets roll the wagon on the road...

So with my hauler correctly kitted out, credits in the bank to cover the insurance, and a almost child like desire the see the sights, i've decided to embark on a voyage of discovery.
Having spent some time looking over the entire galactic map, i came across these two nebulas, The Heart and the Soul Nebulas, aprox 8,000Ly out towards the galactic rim from my chosen jump of point 39 Tauri.

Lets be honest, for those of us that started with the original Elite, and played everything else along the way, how could i not fly out and find them.

Due to user posting restrctions, i'll have to post some screen shots in the next couple of posts.

No promises of regular updates, and datly no time frame to compleate this, just going to plot my course, and soak up all the sights the galaxy has to offer..

so as promised here is a screen shot of the galactic map, showing the two target nebulas

Passed by there yesterday after visiting NGC 7822 which is just plain nuts.
good luck out there, max out the Fuel Scoop at every opportunity because it does get a little sparse at times, not every sun can give you petrol.

Bon Courage!!!! (as the French say) And good luck and don't let the black holes bite!

I'm curious about your fuel capacity and loadout since I have been thinking of taking my Type-6 for a long haul...

note to self.....

Well, the exploration trip is well under way, and now probably about 200Ly's from my start point ( 39 Tauri).

Had a little "bumb" refueling and knocked some paint off the hull, but nothing to serious untill last night....

Had had a very long and stressfull 15 hour shift at work, got home just after midnight, and decided that an hour of exploring would be a good way to unwind and relax. Jumped to a star system ( Lyncis Sector DB-X B1-0 i think). Pinged the scanner and decided to scan the 3 stars in the system. two were nice and ( astronomically speaking) close, under 4000Ls apart, the third was aprox 180,000Ls out.
No problem thought i, i'll just supercruise there just take about 10/15 mins, scan the star and jump to the next system...............

Well, it didn't go quite to plan.....

I woke up at the controls about an hour or so later to find that i had overshot my target just a little bit.......

somehow managed to avoid any disasters, but learnt a valuable lesson, don't fly when your tired :D:D:D:D

Hahaha! So it's not just me!!!

+1 rep for not making me feel alone lol.

jump out of system and back in for a shortcut back :)

What an awesome journey! Have you had contact with other commanders on your trip? (after you got away from civilization)

I'm just surprised i didn't just come to some horrible end, lol

Anyway, having had a few hours sleep, i jumped back behind the controls and covered about another 30-50 Ly's ( not rushing to my desination, and taking a meandering path).

Jumped throught and scanned a couple of systems, and ended up at Col 285 Sector ER-U C3-14, a 5 star system with no planets, a center binary pair, orbited by a trinary of two K class and brown dwarf iirc.

Having scanned them all, i had the chance to grab these shots of the trinary moving into alignment.....

It's finding views like this that keep me pressing on and exploring :cool:

So, another day, another few light years covered...

Flying along, and decided last night to jump to HIP 31546, and park for the night, scanned a couple of objects, and then found a nice asteroid belt to stop in, dropped out of super cruise, found a nice asteroid to orbit, and saw this view....

So, anyway, today, decided that some more exploring was to be had, and looking at the galactic map, spotted the systems 6 Ursae Majoris and 8 RHO Ursae Majoris, both within a few jumps.

Co-ords plotted and away i jumped, and a few jumps later i find myself in 6 Ursae Majoris

And managed to grab this shot of the sun rising over one of the high metalic content worlds...

After that little fly by, i jumped to 8 RHO Ursae Majoris

So, i'm sitting roughtly 300Ly's from 39 Tauri, enjoying the sights
Now for my next small target, on my way to the heart and soul nebulas, having seen Polaris on the galactic map, that is my next stop althought i do need to check, because i have a feeling that it is a permit holder system :eek::eek::eek: and where the hell do i find a permit out here......

So it is with great sadness, that i have to let it be known, that at 13:00 (ish) hours GMT CMDR Project Havok, was ambushed by a shameless pirate while exploring the system Wredguis JQ-S B32-1 and his ship distroyed :(:(:(:(

I was in the region of about 400+ Light years from my start location (39 Tauri), and had been playing a game of "cat and Mouse" with different NPC pirates over the course of the last 5 or 6 systems that i had been through, and was sitting around about 85% hull, but in the end, i fell to the lasers of a NPC Pirate in a tricked out Viper who i just could not get far enough away from to be able frame shift in time.

i will admit, i was a little upset, i had collected data on about 200 systems and was really enjoying just heading out and seeing the sights, so i did the best thing i could think off, i exited the game, had a cup of tea, and took the dog for a walk and said to myself "it's not like it's a real spaceship or money you lost so get over yourself".
Not surprisingly, this did the trick, and i'll be embarking on another trip of discovery out into the wilds in the next day or so, i'll keep this thread updated with my travels, and screen shots, and hopefully ( murdering pirates not withstanding) i'll reach my destination and return. :):p:p:p:p:p
