Halfway from the bubble to Ceos, at a refuel waypoint, I decided to take a nap.
My usual honk showed me a nearby planet and I thought why not look for a nice spot and log off?
I actually found a nice place to land at the rim of some grand canyon on the dayside but hovered there for two minutes or so whilst busy with the systems.
Suddenly I heard ships closing in, sensor shows FOUR of them [woah] and comms show that they´re not interested in my empty cargo racks.
Yeah, whatever, I immediately retracted the landing gear, directed full power to engines, hit the boost controls and entered SC.
I left SC just outside orbital cruise range, took a deep breath, a drink and finally ... my pillow.
Too bad, that was quite a view
Question:
Is the planet surface a safe place for logging out?
How about near orbit?
I remember Cmdrs always SCing a few hundred ls away from every object. Is that still a thing?
Where do you usually park when outside the bubble or if you just don´t want to dock?
