Sag A passenger missions

i noticed that after i get to Sag A the timer for the mission dosent go away.. and im on the way back to the bubble but it says i have 3 days left.. does that mean i will fail if i dont get the explorer back in time?

yes i did scan the beacon and got the go ahead to return back the the station i started from.

The given timer is not only for the arrival at Sag a*, its for the roundtrip, so you might want to rush a little ;) But look into the transactions tab, it should also be mentioned, that the passenger has no problems with some delays. Dont know the maximum though. I had one sightseeing adventure quest thing recently with 14 hrs left. Finished it after 24hrs, the passengers mood decreased from "happy" to "happy" ;)

Don't panic. If you absolutely floor it, jumping at the absolute soonest you can, you can get from Sag A* to Sol in just over seven hours of flight time with a 40ly jump range.

Another good tip might be to check if your passenger has any issues with delays. If (s)he doesn't, no need to worry as their mood will not be influenced as much (or at all) if you don't make it back in the allotted amount of days.

This is something where I reckon the time should be based on game time not real world elapsed time. Sure you can argue don't take the mission if you don't have the time to commit. But hey, that means content is inaccessible which is dumb.
If the game was "real" then I'd be a full time pilot and not have to go off doing other things.
So I reckon all missions should be based on game time played. If a mission will have 'real' in world consequences, fine, index them to real elapsed time and mark them as such.

Good luck to the OP o7

Unless you're Chiggy. In which case it's 11 minutes. 20 if you stop for tea and biscuits at that nice place on the way.

you are 100% correct the current time limits are for casual players.. passenger missions... what passenger missions?

I wouldn't recommend Sagittarius A* passenger missions for casual players. I wouldn't recommend them for anyone, in fact.
If you wish to make money from long range tourist missions, you can often get much better payouts per time by sticking to destinations 1-5k ly out. There's also a little trick to getting much better payouts: look for missions with 7 or 8 first class passengers. Above six people, the reward for more passengers scales up much more than it does with distance. You'll need a size 6 first class passenger cabin, of course (5C can only carry six passengers), but plenty of ships can fit those. Look around in wealthier places where you are in good standing with most minor factions: you'll often need friendly or cordial rep for such missions.

For example, I recently did a tourism mission to 2100 ly or so, carrying 8 first class passengers. The payout for that 4k round trip? 25 million credits. Granted, this was an outlier, but generally you should be able to get 8-16 million credits for staying within 3000 ly. Do a few of these, and you will more than match the rewards for one of those extra long distance missions. (Even if you would score a mission to Sag. A* with 8 first class passengers.) Plus this way, you'll see many more tourist spots than if you just went to Sagittarius A* or Jaques. And the timer is still the same, so with such distances, it's practically infinite.

The time limit for long-distance runs is going to be (or already is?) extended to 28 days there and back - MB said that extending it even more might break something.
