Horizons Sag A* trip, How much was your data worth?

I just returned from Sag A*, 50kly, honking all the way and back and cashed in my Cartographic data.

It was a little less than 14 mill CR. I got over 6 mill Cr for the Palin run of 10kly.

The Sag A* trip payout seems a little light in comparison.

If you have done the 50kly Sag A* and back (I figured over 1k of jumps), what was your payout?

And I am quite certain of the Palin payout, I wrote it down out of curiosity.

One other thing, my PC crashed right after it supposedly finished the payout.

Back in April last year, I got 317,102 Cr for SagA*.
My whole expedition to get there took 4 months, over 100 kylies and paid out 174MCr.
If you're looking to maximise your exploration payout, be sure of a few pointers:
  • Scan the star on entry into the system. That's roughly 2000Cr just for the star itself. x1000 for a SagA* roundtrip and that's 2MCr.
  • Scan all Earth-like worlds, Terrestrial Ammonia Worlds and water worlds. They're the planets that pay the most Cr.
  • Consider working out the "Goldilocks Zone" for each star and scanning planets at that distance because they are quite likely to be "terraform candidates" and boost the Cr payout for those few planets.
  • Scan as many black holes and neutron stars as you can. NS are about 43kCr and black holes typically 45kCr upward.
Since exploration Elite is based on credits earned from scans, it's in your interest to maximise your payouts.

as zenith has said, how much such a trip pays largely depends on how much you scan - and how many jumps it takes you to get there and back.

friend of mine did his first trip to the core in a fully combat fitted vulture, while i was going in an AspE - his payout was nearby doubled to mine.

my first trip to the core netted 34 mio, my second 14 mio, and my third 85 mio ;-)

Thank you gentlemen for your responses.

The reason for the question was an apparent imbalance between the Palin and the Sag trips. In reading these and other posts, it was a difference in ship jump range that made the Palin trip pay out more (relative to distance) than the Sag trip.

The math shows an approximate payout of 12k CR/jump for Palin and 14k CR/jump for Sag.

The Sag trip paid more per trip due to the bonus discovery credits but less proportionately to distance covered due to greater jump range, in this case over twice the range.

Question answered.

Jump range does make a big difference. I think I average about 10k per jump and I only really scan ELW, pretty WW, Amonia, WD, NS, BH and star while plotting next 1kly.

My first trip to Sag A* in my Anaconda before engineers boosts got me 27 million. That was just there and back but moving about 1kly off the beaten track and flying through the neutron field plotting each 1kly to end at a NS.

In comparison some of my recent runs to Jaques in a 50+ly per jump ship have not even made 10 million.

12k CR/jump

10K CR if i'm racing (e.g. only stopping for any kind of world, and checking system map while chargin the next jump), and 40K CR when i explore (scan every star while scooping in my DBE, and scan HMC up to 500 ls and gas giants up to 2000 ls).
