sailor need assistance to buy a game

my first reaction was....wow...elite.....
it was long time ago when i was playing elite on my
commodor 64.....(once i was playing 22 hours without stop)....
never after that i didn`t find any kind of software that had my
attention like elite.....not even close.....
Today i am seaman, and life did bring some other games in
my life....some fuel-smelling-noisy-big-machines type of games...:(

Now ,the reason why i writing this is because i don't know how to get
game, here, in the middle of nowhere...my only idea is that i pay the game
with my visa card and that i go out in some port (soon we will be in Rio) to
find some free wireless and download game with my smartphone (on my SD card) and after install on my laptop....please tell me that is possible my brilliant idea......if not.....help me please.....
i dont want to wait final elite.....premium beta is just fine....

When you are in a port (eg Rio) You can pre-order the game here : https://store.zaonce.net/ (in a cyber cafe for example). You pre ordered the retail version, you can download the version gamma late September for the anniversary of Elite (speculation) on the computer of cyber cafe (in another port). And you will transfer toward your laptop. Gamma is almost the full game. ED can be played in solo offline mode (in addition to other online modes). But in solo offline mode, you will not have access to the evolving galaxy, of the online mode

I believe your laptop will have to be online so you can verify the installation. It will ask you for a code that it sends to the registered email address. So I would hold on for now in your position.

The Premium Beta is only really a multiplayer game at the moment, you will need an active internet connection to play it.

There are some short single player missions, but you still need to log in to play.

The Game installs via a client installer that will need to be run directly on an internet connected computer, so I'm pretty sure down loading it on your phone can't work, because you only download the small client program.

Sorry I think you will have to wait a while untill the single player side is added.

It depends on the speed and reliability of your internet connection. If you have a satellite uplink that you play through you're going to see ping times of 1000ms and upwards which would make it unplayable. You could, as mentioned above, play the single player missions but they're very short lived at the moment; not much to do but practise dogfighting.

I spent the largest parts of 1985-1999 on board various US Warships so I know your pain.

I usually try to not get involved in Either recommending/not recommending a game for some one or whether they should get early access. but in your case I will.

Wait 6 months, then check to see if Elite has the single player experience up running, if yes, grab it. if no, wait another 6 months. the current model, which will last ATLEAST another 3-4 months is currently online only. and online only is exactly what you do NOT need.

@OP. Wait for release. No point in spending money on what's currently an online experience if getting online is a chore.

Yeah, vsat sucks big time. I don't know how much does ED rely on internet connection, but if it's not much, he may even give it a shot (if he's got it).

Thanks for reply guys.....i see that is not possibile for moment....so....i will wait final product hoping that there will be kick ass single mission ......and....hm.....i must find some other fun in rio de janeiro....any ideas:p
