Saint Louis Zoo Recreation

Hey everybody! I wanted to get a thread going because I've just started my Saint Louis Zoo recreation! I'm a STL local, and have been to the zoo far over 50 times over the past couple years, and so I've collected quite a catalogue of reference photos (my current folder on my computer, which is incomplete, has 1,700+ photos). I started this recreation this week and wanted to share some of the progress with you as I go along!

I started out using OnTopReplica to outline the zoos shape, and used a height marker website to find out how large of an elevation change there was in some parts of the zoo. I used a grid from JustGoron to help lay things out too!

I started out working on the South entrance plaza, which was a ton of fun because out of the zoo's two entrances, this is the one I came through most often.

It's been taking a while to finish but I am happy with the progress so far!

The first habitats I built in the zoo were in the Red Rocks area, which is on the easternmost part of the zoo. The two habitats I recreated today were the Nile Lechwe exhibit, and the Speke's Gazelle exhibit. These aren't the best habitats in real life, but I think they really came out great in Planet Zoo!

I recently moved to STL (aka August 1) and went to the zoo for the first time today and was literally taking pics for planet zoo planning
