Hardware & Technical Saitek X-55 no buttons map to controls on flight stick

Haven't played ED for a year! Figured I would fire it up, even deleted my save to start over...

Realized I could not move the cursor in the UI panel (panel 1) to select a destination when I left the station, just as I got blown up by someone. Interestingly enough, I could use the H2 button on the X-55 to navigate around when I was on the station - taking on a mission, buying cargo etc.

So OK. Restarted PC. Now the game will recognize no inputs from any of the buttons on the X-55 flight stick. It will recognize if I move the stick left, right up or down, it's just all the HAT switches and buttons it will not recognize when trying to configure controls. It does recognize everything on the Thrust thing. Flight stick is on, there's green lights shining through... tried different USB slots too.. super confused! Thinking the stick is bad... [blah]

Edit: Well crap, I think I just answered my own question... under Windows properties, none of the buttons recognize when I try them. However, button 15 is constantly highlighted whether I'm pressing anything or not... Going to try reinstalling the drivers...

Fixed!! Well I unscrewed the flight stick entirely from the base, re-screwed it back in and now it's working! Guess there was a bad connection there somewhere... Now to find that shot me down in my time of weaknesss :)

Buttons 15-17 reflect the Mode switch on the throttle. Try reinstalling the latest drivers, try your HOTAS on a different computer. If the button presses are not recognised in joy.cpl then you should request a replacement. Unfortunately, X55 quality is really bad, and what you have described is a common issue.

Hopefully this doesn't progress for you. I had exactly the same issue yesterday, but no amount of reconnecting helped. Also tried tightening the 2 screws on the bottom of the stick itself, and the opposing 2 in the top of the base mount to further expose the connectors. That didn't help either. Double checked that the white plastic connector inside the base hadn't become detached, nope.

In the end having to RMA it back to CPC, who I got it through, but they have no idea of exactly when their new stock is coming in. They did try to pawn me off onto a X52 instead... No deal.

So far so good... no more issues. Sucks about yours, pay that much for a setup --- kind of expect it to be reliable and last. I guess like Aleksej said, quality issues...

I'd honestly still have my cheapy Thrustmaster setup if my dang Husky hadn't chewed through the USB cable [where is it]
