Hardware & Technical Saitek X-56 Mode Switches

Hello everybody,

I'm having a bit of troubles here setting up my new X-56 HOTAS.

What I would like to do is, to set up the mode switch on the throttle unit (M1, M2, S1) to function as modifier so that I would eventually have 3 different inputs with each individual button depending on which mode is selected. Unfortunately I had no luck setting it up that way. Elite only recognizes the buttons as the same buttons regardless which mode is activated.

Does someone might have experience with this and could help me out?

I was hoping to be able to have 1 mode for combat, 1 mode for docking and so on.

You need to set up the profile software to send different keystrokes depending on the mode, then bind the different ED functions you want in each mode to the same keystrokes. You wont be able to do much with things like axes unless you want to convert them to digital functionality.
