Hardware & Technical Saitek X45 . Windows 8.1 . Bindings . HCS Voicepack

This post is to hopefully smooth out other people's potential troubles found with buying an old x45 used

I purchased one of Ebay only to have driver issues. The Win 8.1 auto-install didn't work. And once I got a decent driver the joystick would just spin me in circles in space. Eventually I found a driver that allowed to calibrate the stick... Smooth sailing now.

I found bindings on an old archive of this forum that worked but were limited. Furthermore I decided that I wanted to use the HCS Voicepacks only to find out that there's not a x45 binding b/c this thing is ancient, and that even if there were it would likely be broken like the x52 was (Errors)... sooo... I added the necessary keys to the old x45 binding and made a new one that's HCS compatible.

The x45 is great now, and the voicepack + facetracknoir makes the number of buttons (less than newer models) perfectly serviceable... now I just need to figure how to get ED to recognize a 7680x1080 MSI Matrix display (MSI's version of fooling 3 screens to appear as one) and I'll be set.

I got my x45 at a yard sale for $5, but I've never really used it, due to "weird Issues". I found the instructions below to remove the driver I'd been using, then just installed the files you provided. Smooth sailing indeed!!
Thanks so much!! Going to see if it behaves any better in my other games.

I had to follow the instructions from Saitek to properly remove all traces of the drivers and software. Then re-install driver then SST (and do not plug in the x52 until the driver program ASKS you to plug it in, and then do so).

Here are the instructions you have to follow them all or the same problem happens again:

1. Unplug your device from the computer

2. Uninstall the drivers

3. Uninstall the SST programming software

4. Delete the Saitek folders from the following paths :
C:\Program Files
C:\Windows\Temp

5. Delete Saitek registry entries:

-Press and hold the Windows key on your keyboard and then press the letter R. This will open the Run box. Type regedit and then click ok.

The Registry Editor will have a list of folders on the left hand side. Go down into the following folders in order by clicking the + next to the folder name.

+
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
+System
+CurrentControlSet
+Control
+Media Properties
+Private Properties
+Direct Input

Delete any folder inside the Direct Input folder that begins
VID_06A3.

6. Reboot

7. Install the latest drivers and DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR X52 until the install program ASKS you to or you will have to redo this whole process.

Nvidia control panel has surround spanning options to combine multi screens as one. I did it - but it doesn't seem to like the fact that mine is two different sizes in two differnet res. I had to turn it off.
