Hardware & Technical Saitek X52 Nightmare - Windows 10 64bit

Hi all,

I am new here so sorry if this has already been asked but I can't find it anywhere.

OK so I bought a saitek x52 (not pro) and trying to use it on windows 10 x64 - I am having a nightmare even getting it to work.

I have went through and installed the drivers, the throttle works fine however the joystick detects literally nothing.

The joystick is lit up but I cannot get it to do anything. One thing I have noticed when looking through the forums is that everyone talks about connecting with a USB, the throttle quadrant does have a USB connection but the joystick uses a mouse PS/2 port. Is this normal?

I am close to sending it back - I have tried uninstalling, setting up drivers first etc etc etc but it just doesn't seem to be recognised when plugged in, despite it being lit up.

Any help is appreciated

Just a quick basic check, you are plugging the joystick into the throttle and then connecting the USB from that into your PC?

i have win10 and a x52 pro and it's all working for me (which I know isn't helpful)

This.

Also use a USB2 port instead of a USB3 port if you have the choice. Less risk of problems, and one more USB3 port free to do other stuff.

I might be being an absolute idiot in that case. I am plugging the throttle stright into the mouse port - it has the same connector.

I am not using the PRO X52 - am I meant to be plugging the joystick into the throttle? I didn't notice any ports on the back of the throttle?

Thanks very much for your advice here.

I don't have the pro either, just the normal X52. The joystick plugs into the back of the trottle, the throttle connects to your PC via USB.

Note: If you feel like the biggest idiot in the world just read the first post here:

haha that is brilliant!!!!

Thanks very much for your help guys - I think I spent too long building the PC, I have lost all common sense now :)

This brings back memories of an external hard drive enclosure that I owned one time. Its power supply had a PS/2 plug. Yes, that was 12 Volts of DC right into a standard PS/2 plug. And I plugged it in where it was supposed to be plugged, and all was good. Until one day I absentmindedly didn't.

It was an expensive day, but at least I learned a valuable lesson about design.
