Hardware & Technical Saitek X52 Pro Driver Problems | Windows 10

Good day,

I am having trouble getting my X52 Pro to work on Windows 10. It has worked before (I've owned it for about 6 months), but I'm not sure what caused it to cease working. The recent Windows update may be relevant, I'm not sure.

Nevertheless, when it is plugged in, everything is lit except the MFD and the throttle control position markers. It is listed as an "Unkown Device" in Windows Device manager. I've tried a clean install of the latest Saitek drivers (http://prntscr.com/9r2fid). During the installation process of the driver it prompts me to plug in the HOTAS but it does not recognize it. I've tried the 2 front USB 2.0 ports, 2 rear USB 2.0 ports, and a few USB 3.0 ports. I've also tried rebooting my computer and various combinations of having the HOTAS unplugged or plugged in prior to the driver install process.

Lastly, I've tried "Update Driver" in Device Manager but to no avail. (http://prntscr.com/9r2fbk)

I am considering reinstalling Windows 10, but I'm not sure if that will even work.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi as you might be aware by now that the saitek X52 does not like usb 3.. if you do a google search or even on this forum you will see alot of people have the same problem, yes incl me.. My problems started after i upgraded my motherboard and cpu. I reinstalled windows 7 without any problems, but as soon as i got too installing the X52 pro. I have nothing but problems. I did manage a work around (most buttons worked but not ll and no MFD lit up).

Now iv updated too windows 10 and back too square 1.. I am now in the middle of trying too find out the work around on this problem again. Once i find it i will copy and paste the link here BUT be aware its not straight forward...

Heyy fellas! Ran into the exact same problem. Had my X52's for a while now recently got my new laptop installed my joysticks, then after recent windows update I realized that the mfd screen no longer lit up & drivers where showing as " unknown device ".

Tried uninstall and reinstalling drivers, I tried restarts and several methods, I tried compatibility modes but to to no success. Im unsure as to a solution so any help would be appreciated! Hopefully this will all be fixed up shortly..

Hello
Sorry I cannot help but I am pleased that someone else has EXACTLY the same problem.
Hope someone figures it out. I have been using the X52PRO successfully ever since I changed to Windows 10 but today was the 1st time I have tried to use it in 2016.
Tried everything - uninstalling, downloading new drivers but I get the PRECISE same symptoms you have described.
PLEASE - ANYONE - HELP
Tony

Same issue here but I remembered I received a new build of windows 10 a bit ago (check if you have windows and windows.old folder, means you got a newer build too).
After going back to the old build and manually updating the driver from device manager I got it working again (point the driver update thing to windows\temp\madcatz... driver install files are there).

I'd write better steps but it's late, I'm tired and I've been messing with this        of a problem for several hours now.

The trick (for Windows 10) is to attempt to install the latest beta drivers from Saitek's web site (you may need to Google for them).

During the install, after you've plugged in the joystick, go into the Device Manager (right-click on "Computer") and select the item for the X52 Pro, which will be flagged as not working properly, and change the driver from the default Windows driver, which doesn't work, and change it to "Generic USB device". The installer will then pick the joystick up and finish the installation.

Unfortunately you'll need to do this every time you plug the joystick into a different USB port (but not if you use the same port).

You can't just aim the Windows driver update utility at the Madcatz driver package as they use an out-of-date (Windows 9X) driver XML specification which is incompatible with Windows 10.

'You probably have an Intel USB 3 controller on the new motherboard. You'll have to turn it off in the BIOS/UEFI settings to get the X52 Pro to work at all.

Can also confirm that this works perfectly. Thanks for saving me a great deal of time :)

Also works for Saitek x65f installation problems!

I also used this suggestion to get my x65f stick working again after a Windows 10 reinstallation.

The problem was the same - installer hung with "next" greyed out, waiting for the controller to be plugged in, and Windows Device Manager reported it as an "unknown device". Via the Device Manager's "update drivers" option I used the "browse for driver software..." option and "Let me pick...", and chose "USB Input Device". That installed, and then the Saitek installer recognised the device and allowed me to click Next!

Thank you very much for this solution - I would never have figured it out myself!

Hello, I had an issue where the throttle and MFD LED's would not light up when starting up windows 10.

So while trying to look into the boot up process I found that disabling "fast boot" on windows 10 solved the problem. Here is the link for an explanation of how fast boot works on windows10 and instructions on how to simply disable it in the options menu.
https://www.howtogeek.com/243901/the-pros-and-cons-of-windows-10s-fast-startup-mode/

Also I keep my USB ports enabled and powered up all the time as windows10 can disable them when not in use "or when it thinks so"
The "how to geek" site is a treasure trove of useful advice..

Hope this helps

No Issues here with Win 10 & X52 Pro's

Hi, New to posting, just wanted to say that I've had no issues with Windows 7 or 10 running the Saitek X52 Pros, so if you want to know what drivers etc i'm using just ask.
