Hardware & Technical Saitek X52 Pro or X55 Rhino?

Hello everyone,

I have recently bought Saitek X52 Pro from Amazon (I have 30 days to return it in the US). The joystick is working fine and I have no problems with it. I am not impressed with the precision of this joystick. I do not see a big difference between my old Logitech Extreme 3D pro and the X52 pro (in terms of precision).

Has anyone used X55 and X52 pro? Can someone please tell me if I should return the X52 Pro and get the X55? Is there a difference in the precision mechanism of those 2 joysticks? I feel that the X52 Pro's spring is a little too loose for my taste. I wish that the stick was "firmer". The reason i did not get X55 in the first place is because of some negative reviews on Amazon and Newegg. I aware that one can change springs on the X55. This is another topic that was covered in the negative reviews - only one spring was functioning as intended.

All answers are greatly appreciated . Thank you very much.

Having X55 I can say that all springs are functioning as intended and the precision of the joystick was significantly improved comparing the one I have bought in March with the one bought in the end of June.

I don't know about the x55 sensors compared to those of the x52 but you could try at least the spring mod. It won't break your warranty pulling a piece of plastic onto it.

If you then decide to keep it you could even apply the magnet mod (easy version or longer one) at the cost of 5bux if not less but voiding the warranty ;)

Personally I luv my x52 even if I'm very well aware it's a piece of plastic. If you want serious stuff, go for CH stick and throttle.

I have set the minimal possible deadzone for my second X55 in ED for X-axis. No need in the deadzones for Y- and RZ-axes.

Thank you very much for all your responses. Alekjei...did you have a chance to directly compare X55 to X52 pro? ( in terms of accuracy of the actual stick and it's feel/resistance) ?

Aleksej... I just noticed that you are from Latvia... I have moved to US in 1993, from Tbilisi, Georgia. Back in Georgia, I played the original Elite on Sinclair Spectrum ZX (back in 1989)...no floppy disk drive, only a cassette player. Unfortunately, I could not save my game progress :)

Unfortunately I have never had X52pro so I cannot compare them. The rest is very subjective. Someone says green spring is too stiff, however it is not as stiff as I would like.

In terms of accuracy it is very precise and H.U.D. allows you to set sensitivity curves.
